I wouldn’t say so. I suspect they’ll be reviewing up to the deadline given how early it is in the year.

Yes! Hoping to build an SJT simulator based with @Amma Usman’s help a bit later in the cycle. I too find this trickier because firms assess SJTs in different ways, but I can definitely see the number of firms using them.

That's what I'd do. It's broad enough that you can mention any early experiences that introduced you to becoming a lawyer, but I would make sure you also tie this into why you want to be a commercial lawyer specifically :)

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

Is the firm you are applying to a commercial law firm? If so, I'd assume the question is basically asking why you want to be a commercial lawyer. We sometimes see this phrasing from firms that are a bit less 'commercial' in nature, so it provides you with scope to be broader with your reasoning.

Urgent - Go to Exeter for Law or take a gap year

Welcome to the forum! Exeter is a great university. If you're thinking about taking a gap year just to understand more about the process, I wouldn't worry too much. Most people don't learn about vacation schemes and training contracts until at least their first year at university, if not a lot...

White & Case Application – “Tell Us Something About Yourself”

I do like your angle, especially if you can talk aobut why it interests you and reference any experiences you have to back this up. Really, this question is about better getting to know you, beyond the information you've already provided (or information that doesn't well match). I usually...

You definitely still have a chance with magic circle and silver circle firms. As long as you have a 2:1, that's all you need, especially if extenuating circumstances will explain any lower module grades. Regarding the second question, my personal view is you'll have a better chance applying to...

We'll be launching our own this Friday that I hope will help (just testing it at the moment). We'll have 500 questions for you to practise (100 per type!). Each one has a written explanation so you can understand why the answer was correct/incorrect.

These should be on our directory, if you navigate to the applying tab for each firm :) I would just keep in mind that some questions will change this year. Macfarlanes already has!

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

I’d expect firms to look at different things here, but if I had to summarise themes: (1) how well you communicate it so someone with no knowledge of the topic can clearly understand it, (2) the depth of your analysis, and (3) how convincingly you demonstrate a genuine interest.

Training Contract AC tomorrow - advice and tips

As you go in tomorrow, I want you to remember that you are talented. They'd be lucky to have you. It's impossible to know what's actually going to happen tomorrow, but what you can do is be enthusiastic and present. Try to really show your interest in the firm and highlight the best parts of...
