Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Interesting - strange they phrased this as an 'exception'!

    Contact during the Christmas period

Hi All, Just something I wanted to flag up, so I can feel a little less guilty! I'm completely floored at the moment and it's quite a challenge to respond to the number of messages I receive. So I can make this more efficient: If you have a general question you wanted to ask me, please could...

Shearman & Sterling Vacation Scheme Interview 2019

Thanks to @AS98 for sharing this: "It was an hour HR/associate interview that was mainly competency questions (tell me about a time...why law, why Shearman, commercial news) so they really just want to see who you are. They could tell that I was slightly nervous in the beginning and said that...

    DAC Beachcroft

There's no one way to tackle this answer but your approach sounds great and is probably what I'd do i.e. pick a few specific reasons and really develop why that interests me (tying it back to my experiences where relevant).

    Totally screwed up video interview

Really sorry to hear that. I'm very much like this - I'll practice to death, think I'm prepared and then blank on the real thing. At least it can only get better from here!

    Time management

It’s very tough - and I’m curious to know how you guys do this too. I was actually given an exam bar in my final year at university because I chose to prioritise applications over the other stuff. (Just meant I had to have 100% attendance or I wasn’t allowed to take my exams!)

Law Firm Insight: Kirkland & Ellis

Here's the summary: The article begins by talking about Kirkland's former reputation as a litigation powerhouse with a 'decent mid-market private equity practice'. Since then, aggressive lateral hiring and growth in PE has led to Kirkland becoming the highest grossing law firm in the world. The...

    Noticed a typo after submission

As did I...my first vacation scheme offer was from a firm that I'd spelt wrong throughout the whole of the application! (I got very lucky there.) Personally, it's one-off/not obvious, I think you'd be okay to just leave it rather than drawing attention to it. I know it's very frustrating, but...

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

Well done! We don't have much on the firm (aside from this one), I'll see if we can find any more.

Hearing Back from Law Firms, Assessment Centres & Interview Tips - 2019 - 2020

I always find it hard to know what to say here because there's no way round it being a really rubbish situation. I remember my rejections well and I know they don't get any easier - if anything, they get worse because you feel you have improved a lot from previous interviews. I think it's great...

    Linklaters 2019/20 Application

    This is very naive.

Shearman & Sterling Winter Vacation Scheme

Yeah I take it to mean they may interview before the deadline but they won't give out vacation scheme places. A few non-rolling firms do this - they don't 'recruit' on a rolling basis, but they may interview candidates beforehand due to the volume of applications.
