Try and think of it another way - often getting away from the very negative language of the question helps you identify something appropriate.
For instance, what has been your biggest learning when something didn't go to plan? If you focus more on the recovery from the failure, and the...
I think it is different when you do have legal work experience - and to correct you, you do have commercial legal experience if you have worked in-house at a bank! This is definitely commercial experience!!
As others have pointed out, it is difficult if firms recruit exclusively or...
Possibly not too long but it depends how much you are trying to get in there. I would try to have three key points you want to highlight in a question like this rather than it being a descriptive story of your journey to this point. Make the three points or themes the most interesting or...
Typically advisory teams have fewer/more stable hours (employment, tax). Transactional teams will usually have longer hours and more unpredictable hours, with really peaks of busy periods.
The more international the work, the more likely the hours will be early late to account for deadlines...
If you are going to reference all other modules, then I would include it.
Sometimes applications will just for your overall grade though.
You’d have to declare it if asked though.
It’s only one module - I don’t think this will prevent you from becoming a solicitor.
Slaughters won’t require you to have a 65 or above in every module. They are notorious for putting high value on academic performance but it isn’t as prescriptive as someone having to achieve a high 2.1 in every module.
Firms who care less about academics, then a lower 2.1 is fine, especially...
I don’t think you will be turned down because of one module, especially for a paralegal role.
It may be different if you apply for IP paralegal roles (but these are pretty rare anyway) and you are saying you are avoiding them, so I don’t think this is an issue.
Some paralegal roles won’t even...
It is unlikely you will find a Canadian focused masters course in the U.K. - there just wouldn’t be the demand for it. Your best bet would be to study at this level in Canada.
If you want to work in Canada, then generally your best bet would be to qualify into one of their states. Getting a job...
A poor performance still means there are development points though, even if that someone needs to be more confident or consistent in their performance.
Thr firm will likely want to see some form of development in your application to consider warrant bringing you through to next stage again. There can be a thinking as to why the outcome would be any different to the first time if there is nothing that evidences some form of opportunity to...
I’d choose the firm you can see yourself most likely wanting to work for.
Obviously you could look at how likely you are to convert, but ultimately turning down a firm is one of the quickest way to shut a door to being hired by that firm in the near future.
No need to connect it to law, the firm or commercial aspects. Should be something that true inspires and excites you. Heard everything from Manga comics to architecture from certain historical periods, the particular charities, to an obsession with a sports team.
** PLEASE READ**
I realise I haven’t helped this but we have completely derailed this thread.
If anyone wants to keep this debate up about diversity or Oxbridge, please start a new thread in the general discussions section of the forum, so people who only want vacation scheme updates can keep...
This is the problem with this debate - we start to create binary definitions of things being “easy vs difficult” when actually how we define something as being easy or difficult is never discussed.
For instance, the intellectual level could possibly be higher and some will argue this makes it...
Oxbridge doesn’t provide any guarantees.
Oxbridge applicants were typically the highest rejected groups in terms of numbers, whilst also being the highest number of trainees I hired at a MC firm.
