On the pay point (and to manage people’s expectations), you don’t need to decrease people’s salaries, you just phase them out.
It wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t match them and instead allow legacy Shearman staff’s salaries to slowly be eroded through smaller increases/bonuses or as people...
For everything you think you did wrong, write down something you think you did right, even if it seems quite small/minor.
I suspect the “wrong” things you are highlighting are also minor in the grand scheme of things, so at least it gets you to put some balance into your thinking.
It would show a level of interest, but it is in no means necessary to do this and there are many other ways that interest could be shown outside of a specialised LLM.
No need to give the date, but referencing where you read about it can sometimes be helpful in explaining why it interests you/how you found about it.
I often recommend considering multiple articles on the same subject for these type of questions though, and so in these instances, you don’t...
It doesn’t have to be formal, but I would go smart. For instance a shirt with a collar (eg polo or golf shirt) or a blouse, rather than a hoodie or T-shirt.
It’s not necessary to do so, but I would only exclude things if you think other work experience supersedes or duplicates the entries you won’t include.
Old entries that may seem less relevant, like part time jobs in retail during your college or university studies, can be really powerful in...

It really doesn’t matter what order you put it in and they don’t have to be separate points/sections either, as the content can be interwoven. It’s just about making sure those points are covered.
Freshfields quiet likes individuality to shine through in their personal statement, and so...
You career options will not be much different to those coming out of the LLB. You may just be a stronger candidate because of completing it, but that does depend on your profile before your LLM and how active you are during your LLM too.
Specialist LLMs particularly in subjects like shipping...
Try to apply in the first two-thirds of an application window if you can to give yourself the best chance. If that is not possible, then 1 week before deadline. Definitely try to avoid the last 72 hours where you can as this is when a good 30-40%+ of applicants will be applying.
I wouldn’t say a careers fair is adequate unfortunately. Maybe consider completing one of the firm’s Forage programmes as this will be considered something appropriate if you haven’t got anything else.
It can be any connection to the work you would do at the firm you are applying to. This could be the skills you have developed that will be needed as a lawyer, through to knowledge of the law, clients or commercial aspects you would be working with. They are basically asking you to focus on the...
