Not a regulatory requirement, but many firms have a preference for you passing both SQE1 and SQE2 before you start your TC.
Many firms sponsor trainees through the SQE though in the same way they did for the LPC.
You can self fund if you’d like to - many people did this with the LPC. I don’t...
Honestly, don’t do this.
If the firm uses as agency for temp staff, they are going to use this or another agency again.
You could ask them if there are any other agencies they work with that you could register with, but they won’t employ you for a few weeks work (that’s why they go to agencies).
No, it’s not taken into account because grade inflation is not consistent across universities/degree subjects. It may have been 10% in your cohort, but could have been 30% in another degree in your same faculty in the same year.
Someone who has known you for more than five years, and on a level that can talk about your character and personality. Ideally someone who works in a profession connected or related to the industry you are applying to, or who works in a professional/office working environment (eg manager level...
If it is for the same trainee intake, then yes. There will most likely be different categories of applicant who can apply in those two windows though, so double check your eligibility.
My view is that the priority has to be getting your grades up first. I wouldn’t over commit to extra curriculars and work experience if that is at the expense of your academics - it will be important to get them to a 2.1 level first, and if you do, then spend time on other areas.
A distinction can help, but I don’t think it will completely outweigh other academics - so it really depends on your academic profile in more detail - eg spread of module results in your degree, A-level or equivalent grades too.
I wouldn’t try to fit in the transferable skills just because the question is no longer asked. It could easily be something they no longer need from candidates. They are likely to be able to infer a lot of the skills by you explaining your impact in those roles (which is likely to be more of...
Not necessarily - it is something to talk about with them. But if it’s something you have manage to arrange rather than go through a formal recruitment process for, then most likely not.
This is just one firm’s view out of 100s of other legal employers you could work for.
It’s not an indication of what’s going to happen with every legal employer you could work for. It may just be that they weren’t right for you, rather than you not being right for them.
I don’t know the specifics for White & Case. I wouldn’t expect one module to weigh that heavily though. The only issue is if the firm has a general policy for sponsored trainees that they have to pass the LPC on first sitting, as they are likely to apply the same policy to self-funders too
The amount of time can vary massively. If the firm did not make it clear to you when you would hear back, then email them asking for details of when you will hear back. This should be through graduate recruitment/your HR contact rather than your buddy.
