Even remote vacation schemes are subject to U.K. employment regulations and require people to have the right to work in the U.K., and therefore aren’t necessarily a solution (unfortunately).
It’s legacy clauses from the LPC - these policies have been in place for decades so it isn’t anything new/that was deemed unfair before.
It’s a very normal thing to put into a contract to make sure people think about things carefully. The firm is making a £20k investment in you potentially for...
Things are changing - in many ways it’s better to give our vaguer information rather than being tied to information that will only change. I know it is frustrating, but firms feel the same about this - there is a lot of information they are not getting either.
The pass marka between the LPC and...
1) no - they would t have offered it to you if that was the case
2) not sure what you mean by this, but I guess it’s just asking them what the differences in the opportunities are.
3) That isn’t correct. There is no harm in asking - worst thing they can do is say no, which is in no different a...
1) There is no set rule to this - you can do many different types of roles. That could be within a law firm (eg business development, compliance/conflicts) but there are a vast array of roles I have seen people work in - from the civil service, to banking. I wouldn’t focus too much on particular...

Asking for a NI number and Passport is very common if you register with a recruitment agency.

1) If it is a SQE1 and SQE2 prep course set within an academic year, I would expect you’d sit SQE1 in January and SQE2 in July. I am not sure when you would sit your other assessments if it was an LLM course though, I would assume May though.
2) Law firms won’t care where you have done a SQE...
