There is no need to link it to the firm unless the question explicitly asks you to do so. However, you will want to choose a topic that is of interest to the firm (in that it will impact their clients or their business).
It doesn’t really matter if it has a positive or negative impact on the...
That would suggest 27-29% (depending on TC numbers) of vac schemers start a training contract with the firm. It doesn’t account for those who were offered and declined the offer for another training contracts though. That could easily be another 15+ vac schemers.
It depends on the experiences. Are they all substantial work experiences with varied responsibilities and/or over a long period of time?
It’s likely that a one may need the full word count, others might not.
Try to think about your experiences as a whole and also how they fit into the...
Then you’ll want to make sure your entries are more concise as there will be more to read through. Any substantial experiences can go into more detail/utilise more word count though.
Yes - the reason why they are recruiting so far in advance is because they are recruiting penultimate year law undergraduates and final year non-law graduates to training contracts. It’s been this way for decades.
6 months until September
Then the final year of a degree
A year of doing an SQE course + assessments
And if you are a non-lawyer, the GDL for another year too.
The time can easily be taken up!
Firstly, I would think about it across entries rather than just singular ones. If you have a lot of different experiences, then you’ll want to keep the entries generally shorter as collectively there will be much more to read through. If you have fewer experiences, you might want a little more...
If it’s a seat you know you want to do, I’d suggest taking it as a module. Not really to help your chances of getting that seat, but more so to help you be able to hit the ground running a little more once you are working in that department.
If your interests are forward looking rather than based on past experiences, then this is fine. There isn’t a set way to answer this question - it really need to reflect your personal interests/thoughts on the topic, rather than a specific structure.
They wouldn’t have a hold list if there wasn’t a chance of someone declining the offer or reneging on one. It could just be a long wait - I have known people to be offered from a hold list even a couple of weeks before the vacation scheme started.
I wouldn’t see this as being unfortunate - this is a positive as you have been deemed good enough to get an offer.
No one will be able to determine your chances though. This is down to so many individual variable factors, it’s impossible to know what your chances are. Even their grad rec team...
An M&A/PE equity case study won’t really be helpful for the article interview. Read and analyse articles from something like the FT or Economist instead.
Past articles (and I mean so past there is no chance of them still being used) have been on topics like privatising a national postal...
Advances on salaries can be quite easy for many firms if you need to pay for accommodation up front and haven’t got the funds, so it’s worthwhile speaking to them to see if this is an option.
They are unlikely to pay more - salary needs to be consistent. However, some firms may reimburse some expenses and others on occasion provide bursaries to those in financial need to cover things like accommodation.
I wouldn’t say this is common though but if you are concerned you won’t be able...
A very brief and subtle reference, especially if you do cough/sneeze - eg “apologies, I am recovering from a cold” is fine. However there is no point in emphasising it or asking for them to take it into account.
There is no need to do this formally - the question is not asking you to do this. However, you may want to just choose something that is naturally linked to the firm (you just don’t have to explain why it is).
