Definitely - no answer has to be related to law/academia unless specifically asked for it to be so.
I think this is where many people go wrong with their answers actually. They choose the “law” or “academia” answer because they either assume it is what the interviewer wants to hear about or...
This is one of my go-to questions at the end of an interview.
There really isn't anything specifically they are looking for - it is just a chance for an open opportunity for you to present anything you want that you naturally haven't had the opportunity to. Recruitment processes are limited -...
They don’t necessarily reimburse them where you are being paid.
Firms tend to only pay travel expenses for things that aren’t paid (interviews/open days).
There will be some exceptions - you should speak to your firms about whether any expenses are covered or not.
We haven't got a list like this unfortunately - but I will consider us creating one in the future. It would be useful to know what other terms might be useful for us to include.
If firms do consider them in this way, they’d probably classify them as
60-62 low
63-66 mid
67-69 high
I don’t think firms make decisions purely on these brackets though
I would assume it is for a new recruitment cycle, and so it will be for a year's later intake than what they have recruited between September 2021 and August 2022.
Congratulations on securing an interview!
Creative thinking is about not just repeating what someone else's thinking - try to apply your own independent thinking to the topic
You could use other aids if you wanted to - they are just saying they won't provide you with a laptop and you won't have...
I would try to speak to someone at your university. I suspect you will need to factor in whether you can suspend your studies as this late stage, and what costs you might incur if you did. It’s not unknown for people to be committed to the course fees and potentially incur additional costs if...
1) It is unlikely you’ll be able to negotiate the transfer to a U.K. TC. It is more likely they will just transfer through for the U.K. opportunity and you’ll need to come through the recruitment process as normal. The recruitment processes tend to be slightly different in each region, and the...
Explain your reasoning from a time and cost perspective as you have here. I’d call them rather than rely on email as your tone over the phone will convey a lot more and you can also potentially discuss alternatives. You may find they have a shuttle bus service from the station, or that they can...
Screening will take place after an offer is accepted. It can sometimes take place 3-6 months before you start the TC, although some firms do the checks before you start any LPC/SQE prep courses though.
It’s typically any employment/education in the last 5-10 years, depending on the firms’s...
Sorry for the questions - I just think it impacts the advice given. Have you done core law modules (eg contract/tort) but are just missing some that making it a QLD or is it something like a Scottish law degree? Just trying to work out what modules you have studied and how much overlap there...
It’s really hard to say whether these examples show challenge. Ultimately it’s not the “example” itself that showcases this, it is more how you describe the actions you undertake to get through the example that will demonstrate challenge.
Therefore either example could be great examples to use...
Depending on the firm, it’s likely to be both.
Some people don’t make the cut (not a good enough performance during their TC).
Some people don’t get their NQ department choices so look elsewhere
Some people leave law altogether
Some people get headhunted by other firms.
Fixed term contracts...
