No, It will not affect you in any capacity, do not worry about it. They are probably used to people switching all the time for visa issues and stuff like this so I am sure they do not look too much into it. It happened to me too and the firm I applied to was so supportive so do not worry!
This is very surprising. I would say that it might be a negative thing. However, if I was in your shoes, I would comply with what they are asking and work really hard on the scheme to make everyone at the firm like you. Show all your skills and be a good vacation schemer, and I am sure that they...
There are some posts on TCLA that might be helpful, I will include some links here: https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/threads/how-to-prepare-for-a-law-firm-video-interview-a-step-by-step-guide-⭐️.8346/ and...
That is a good question, and honestly I genuinely do not know how they can change. I suppose that we will need to wait when the new generation is in charge to change things, especially at the recruiting level. I think that firms are going in the right direction (not all of them though) however...
Hey @RV,
I totally agree with what @Jessica Booker said. I had a friend who attended Jones Day vacation scheme and they were very strict with the visa requirement and they do not sponsor visa to attend the Vacation Scheme. I would check with them but most firms do not sponsor international...
Hey @user7879,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I am genuinely sorry for this kind of behaviour, this is not acceptable. Unfortunately, these kind of behaviours are very common in this industry. I have heard worse stories than this. I really hope that these kind of behaviours and...
I did it last year and I heard back the next morning, however some people hear after some time so I would wait a little bit longer. However, I do know of some people who received second stage invites who interviewed two weeks ago as well so take this information as you will, but I would wait...
Hey @ChanA2626,
I have heard this even when I was applying last year and I think that this is generally what people think but I think it is firm specific. I have many friends who did UK firms vacation scheme and did not manage to convert them (even though the conversion rate is high compared...
I was given the advice to stick to a one page cover letter when I was applying last year. I talked to some future trainees and they told me that they wrote a one page cover letter too. If a firm does not specify, I would stick to one page!
in terms of tips, I shares some in this post recently...
Hey @mfuturetrainee,
I totally understand your confusion, questions like this used to confuse me a lot too last year.
I did provide some insights into this question in this post ...
Yes, I think the question is asking you to focus on a particular practice area of the firm, potentially the one you find most interesting or the major one at the firm, and find interesting trends or events that are substantially challenging, for better or worse, this practice area.
I would say...
The trainee part definitely is important, however I do think that a trainee could very easily do this by a well-thought and researched presentation on the issue. These are just suggestions, so if they are backed up by information and data, I am sure that the key stakeholders will take it into...
I would wait until Friday and if you do not hear anything, then I would send a polite email asking for updates. I am sure they will be very happy to reply to you so do not worry to sound too pushy. As long as your email is polite, then there is nothing to worry about. I certainly have reached...
Hey @gch1997,
This is certainly a tricky question but what I would do is:
Start with a thorough research of the firm (if the application question is directly asking to talk about these improvements to the law firm you are applying to), especially identifying practice areas that they might not...
Hey @lovelaw223,
In my experience, it is a case study about a commercial topic. Mine was about a private equity deal but I have heard many other cases around analysing who to fire from a company which is merging with another company, or what to consider in an M&A transaction with a private...
I would say that it would make sense for you to apply for the direct training contract since you are working and I am sure you have a good chance of getting it. I would just inquire (maybe by talking to people who are future trainee at the firm) how many people they usually recruit from the...
