Hi @manchester12,
I am going to write a post along the lines of what I wrote to @lawful_neutral216 yesterday not out of laziness but because my heart goes out to anyone suffering from a post-AC or VS rejection and I spent a long time drafting this with the same exact scenario in mind from my...
This is a great point, although I am not sure that the point is to create a dichotomy or simply a more compelling story - it is more about illustrating for those who may not have thought about it before just how different people's routes can be!
There are countless different routes into law...
This is a cool answer! Hey we all have different interests and you can justify anything very well if it genuinely excites you :) In my opinion, this is far preferable to a standard boring answer like 'reading the news' or something!
Following what @Jessica Booker said, it could be either (and I did vac schemes at firms which both did it the opposite way)! My sense, however, is that the former approach is more common - hope that helps :)
Hi @syw, I do not have any particular knowledge about this issue and I would love for anyone who knows more than me to jump in and correct me! My (perhaps naive) assumption, however, would be that paralegal experience cannot be a negative, can it?
Perhaps the bigger question is which firms are...
I am really glad to be able to help @lawful_neutral216! Do continue to reach out with any queries, concerns or apprehensions about the process that you may have - I can tell that you have the drive and determination to get there :) I am confident that we will all be hearing about your good news...
I think it really differs by firm - on one of the virtual vac schemes I did there were almost no talks and most of my day was spent at home completing work on behalf of an associate! I have hear that some firms like to keep their in-person vac schemes based more on assessments and talks, and...
Ah I would not worry - I did a vac scheme at a US firm where everyone in the London office pronounced the firm's name differently to everyone in the US lol
Hi @manchester12 I do not know much about Addleshaw Goddard in particular but I have written about my approach to case studies here and @George Maxwell has provided a compilation of case study-related links here.
I hope all of this helps :)
@YUKI1201 my guess is what they meant is that you should explore why it interests you not just from an academic perspective but show that you know what the hands-on work will entail and why you'll enjoy that! It is not too big a point in my opinion but definitely something to bear in mind :)
Have you had messages about this yet? I think that you should post this as a new thread and @Jaysen may be able to include it in the forum banner if it is a popular idea!
@lawnoob this is a classic stress interview question!
I got asked, 'Your educational background looks like you have no idea what you want to do - I bet you're going to leave law within five years; am I right?'
One reason for these types of questions is to see how you respond under pressure...
@LS07 I think this is a great idea! Perhaps you can post in the main vacation scheme thread (which is currently getting more hits as we are in peak vac scheme season) and also create your own thread about the topic where members can go if they are interested in getting involved!
In the...
@selfridges, first of all I would like to congratulate you on what sounds like a really interesting job and a great position to be in!
I am going to solicit @Jessica Booker's advice here on the fine details surrounding what constitutes QWE and what you would need to obtain from your line...
Thank you so much @GWW!
I think the list you are referring to that has not been updated is this one and it outlines which firms take considerable numbers of people through the direct TC route! It is from last year but I think the majority remain the same this year so it would definitely still...
This is a winner's mindset! If you can see the enjoyable side of every interview and see it as an investment in yourself, then even when you are unsuccessful you are spurred onto the next - I am sure that we will be congratulating you on your TC offer very soon :)
