A general tip for research:
Thomson Reuters Practical law is an insanely good database for research as it's clearly organised and have knowledge maps to navigate interlinked concepts. Additionally, it also has almost every single sample documents across sectors.
IK it's insanely expensive, but...
I have a few questions regarding Freshfields application.
1. I realise there is no questions in the form, how are we gonna display the motivation?
2. Do we have to do an interview in the first stage of application (aka the online SJT/WGT)
Was worrying about CC WGT test and losing my mind over it for one whole month... Only for me to wake up this morning and read "you've already passed the test last cycle, don't need to do the test again mail".
IDK if I have to laugh or worry about the time I spent on worrying and preparing Lmao.
Highly shy to put this out, but I would highly appreciate if anyone who was successful with Slaughter and May's application stage could DM me and go through the CV and CL.
I would like to reciprocate the favour for firms I've been successful with.
There is a Video explaining this. They mention that Open days and Virtual Work Experiences are equally important to display your proactiveness and commitment to commercial law. Thus, I'm making a separate sub-heading for it.
Hey!
I understand how chaotic application season gets, especially when both the deadlines pile up. I would like to share a few practicea that genuinely helped me stay sane amidst the chaos:
For applications:
1. I made a full list of firms, their deadlines, what appealed to me, and whether they...
A random Q, but does anyone here follow news on Data Centers and PE firms' investments in them?
If yes, please DM me, I would like t have a discussion on this.
TIA.
Percentile is not the score out of 40.
It's your position among the pool of candidates. For instance, if you have 94%, you are better than 94% people in the pool. (You could have scored 34, but if there are more people above that, your percentile would still be low, if that makes sense.)...
@Abbie Whitlock @Andrei Radu
I hope you're doing well ✨
I would like to have some suggestions on how to answer this question:
"Why do you want to be a trainee solicitor in a transactional focused firm?"
I was informed that the WGT is for every cycle (that you can do it only once in a cycle). IDK if the last cycle scores would be carried over for this cycle.
And yes, there is no guarantee that they've read your application even if you've received the WGT pass mail.
Pretty much Immediately. Or within an hour.
But it's important to note that passing WGT is NOT ENOUGH for CC. They have an internal threshold for percentile that we have to meet. Only then your application will be read.
I love attending conferences more than Open Days, coz here I'm one of the very few students and I can get to talk in depth with top 25 law firm representatives that work in the practice areas I'm interested in knowing more about.
