What examples you use and whether you repeat them is not as important as how you present your answer in the context of your interview. If you say that you are energised by teamwork, follow that up with an example that demonstrates how you know this and if it makes sense in the interview, then...
Don't overthink it- simply pick an area you have an interest in ➡️ justify how you developed this interest (maybe you read something, attended an event, spoke to a lawyer practising in this area) ➡️ read up on deals in this areas (possibly those the firm was involved in) to demonstrate that you...
@LSELawsolicitor At the end of the day, which deal you pick doesn't matter as much as how you use that deal to 1) demonstrate your research and 2) motivations for a career in commercial law at that firm. That being said, I'd stick to deals involving the London office so that you can possibly...
My answer for how long this can be in a virtual interview differs from an actual interview scenario, the reason being that it's harder to pick up on social cues about how your answer is being perceived in a virtual interview as you're generally looking into the camera while you're speaking. With...
Welcome to the forum @A.Diane01! We're here to help in any way during your application journey- wishing you the absolute best! 😇 What firms are you thinking of applying to currently?
Make a plan that breaks each exam down by topic and then breaks each topic down into tasks you need to complete to fully revise. It would look something like- XYZ core exam ➡️ Topic 1 ➡️ Complete readings ➡️ revise class notes+consolidated reading notes X number of times ➡️ complete past paper...
I would be transparent about the reasons why you had to take time out and own them fully as you did what was right for you and your family at that time. Although I doubt most firms would see these periods of unemployment unfavourably, any firm that isn't willing to understand why you needed to...
I'd only write about things here that you haven't been able to mention about yourself anywhere else rather than the firm/law- anything unique about your background, any mitigating circumstances etc.
You don't necessarily need to relate a firm's deals to your professional experience- the link firms are looking for is between your motivations and the deals you're mentioning. Why do those deals in particular interest you? What experiences (events, conversations, webinars etc.) have informed...
My post-AC anxiety was so terrible- I replayed every single moment of my AC for two weeks and somehow convinced myself that I performed terribly and would not get the job (I guess I was trying to shield myself from the pain caused by a rejection 😅).
I realised that trying to 'force' myself to...
@Limanehious I'd suggest using your time at the firm to demonstrate that you understand the firm's ethos and culture, their expectations from their trainees and vision for the future. One of the biggest advantages you have is the fact that you're an 'insider', so please do mention your work at...
I'd highlight 2-3 of my strengths and skills ➡️ elaborate on how I developed/applied them and ➡️ detail how they're relevant to my role as a trainee (link back to firm's values and vision here too, if possible).
I think Jessica is best placed to help with this but I have found some links online that may be of use to you- linking them here and here. Wishing you all the best- please do let me know how you get on! 🤞
If that's the case, @Law1099 send your application in if it's ready- give it a shot. The outcome is out of your hands but sending that application, banking on your efforts and putting yourself in the running absolutely is. You've got this and we're rooting for you 👏 👏👏
Hey! I completely understand- it's absolutely normal to feel anxious so please don't put any pressure on yourself to feel differently. Try to do things that calm you and will help you feel more positive about this experience (speak to friends/family, journal, watch a movie, go for a walk, dance...
@Emily K! Very happy for you!! 👏👏👏 Try to take some time to recuperate and process your evening-prioritise your self-care!
Please feel free to tag me in your posts here on the forum if you need any helping preparing for your assessment day- wishing you the very best! 😇
@littlecat I felt the same way but then realized that they'll never feel like they're reflective of you because they're not supposed to be. These tests produce results based on particular actions you take in specifically defined situations without being able to explain your rationale or go...
I think you can do either or both, although doing both may yield a more accurate, big picture reflection. In any case, reflection is a broad term and will include any retrospective analysis of the things mentioned in your STAR structure.
