I do think this thread was just a testing ground for potential TCLA mods as some have pointed out. I confess that halfway through this afternoon that whilst I didn't think they were bots, I did start thinking "why are there so many people typing in a very similar tone to how Andrei normally...
I think Weil only looks at grades before SJT + VI, at least for my VS app there was no option to put in Work Exp so I've just assumed it means meeting the grade thresholds
Feeling the same, so I'm getting some comfort food and hopefully bouncing back in the next few hours cos these other apps aren't gonna write themselves
Fwiw, hopefully this is reassuring, but I got the SJT + VI invite today and I have an overall 2:1 with lots of 2:2 modules and even 2x 3rds (assuming this is how it works cos my uni has a weird grading system unlike anything else in the UK) with mitigating circumstances, so I'm sure you'll get...
Would anyone please be able to share if Weil VI is primarily motivational or competency/strengths/situational questions or an even mix of both? Though I suppose it doesn't really make a difference as long as I'm clear on my answers for why commercial law and why Weil 🤔
I've been considering possibly applying to additional firms if I have time later in the cycle and the deadlines are a little later. Does anyone know if BCLP have removed their sector-focussed TCs (RE and Financial Services)?
Just to add my two cents, in my personal experience, comparing all the UK (not just MC/SC) and US firms I've met in person or even on virtual law fairs (not necessarily LC), I've found the lawyers at every level and GR teams at US firms much nicer and more approachable than those at UK firms...
Has anyone particularly responded to Mayer Brown's extra question about "anything not covered elsewhere in this form that is relevant to your application"? I've been mulling over whether to put anything in there but I have at best one extra-curricular item that's really more of a hobby rather...
Honestly unsure about iPads/tablets but I can say that I've always used Google Sheets as a calculator (I like my spreadsheet calculations lmao) for monitored tests with numerical aspects and haven't run into any issues before
I think I've now accepted that Latham is a PFO for me seeing as I've still not heard past the Stage 1 SJT after 3 days, not really sure what went wrong there as I normally do well in SJTs and I've never failed any SJT before Latham's Stage 1 (with the exception of my first time doing one for a...
I think it's more of a trait/competency, Goodwin explicitly asks about this in their app form and it's been a headache for me (one situation/challenge, how you overcame it, and how did you display resilience in 300 words)
Based on an application workshop I attended with them, I think it's inevitably meant to come across a little generic but while remaining specific to the firm (I thought their example of a "good" answer was pretty generic), and I assume we will have to personalise and elaborate more at VI stage...
Is it true that Milbank has no app questions/cover letter this year? I haven't taken a look yet as I know they're non-rolling and deadline is 31 Dec so I'm prioritising other firms' apps atm
I think I remember you had an earlier post talking about struggling with the emotion recognition bit, in which case I would say to primarily pay attention to the brow/eyebrows, lips, and how they all are relative to the eyes.
Idk if it would help but an idea that's occurred to me (I haven't...
