I've spent the last two days working on my Skadden application and I'm very nervous as I really like the firm. I've now done multiple rereads constantly trying to figure out how replaceable "Skadden" is with another firm in my answers but remain unsure about it :/
At the very least, I think...
If I had a quid for every spelling and grammatical error I've spotted in grad rec marketing material, websites, and application forms, I'd never have to worry about paying bills ever again, but we take the high road.
That said, the funniest typo I've seen so far is in Fried Frank's TC brochure...
Having done both FF tests, and echoing what Abbie's said, my weakest traits were the ones I thought I'd answered quite well on, it's just the nature of the Cappfinity feedback report that insists on there being weaker traits. You got this!
They actually said in an online event that it's non-rolling this year because they've changed to a new process with the SJT and VI instead of application questions so they're trialing things, but I imagine they will have started screening already, just not made any final decisions.
just finished FF Stage 2, that was something, probably some of the harder and more time-constrained (relative to question depth) VI questions I've done so far lol
Not done the Gowling one, just the NRF one and a couple other non-law ones in the past.
I would try and make sure you're in a really calm and relaxed environment (difficult with a test, I know!) and really get focussed, especially for the middle two games. These tests are geared towards...
it's the same as HL Stage 2 if you've done that, really didn't actually take as long as I'd thought it might, I finished the entire Stage 2 test in just over 60 minutes with maybe 20-25 mins on the WGT (assuming approx 1 min per question, each of which has 4 sub-questions like in the practice...
Timed. As for first stage, HL seems to send tests in batches but I know for a fact that they don't review your application until after you complete 2nd stage it seems i.e. they review it with the 2nd stage test result
It used to be the training principal in the past but I'm not sure who it is now, might be worth emailing Grad Rec. Chambers Student at least shows that the current recruitment partner is Aaron Ferner.
Maybe @Andrei Radu has some insights?
Is it true that FF Stage 1 has far more WG questions than the other SJT/WG tests?
Just need to plan out my time and find enough time to do it in one go if it really does have a lot of questions and needs much more than the 60 minutes suggested in the test invite
In my experience (I've tested this approach a few times with non-law grad schemes that I wasn't very interested in) and from some research and online discussions, it looks like you do better if you're decisive/polarising in your answers as it shows that you're not trying to "please" by sitting...
I'd say I hope they all move to something more like Amberjack if they really wanna keep online assessments. The options are more sensible and not as much of a false dichotomy as they are in Cappfinity imo but as long as VSs/TCs remain this competitive, they're gonna use whatever they can to...
Based on the announcement website, they will continue as is until Q3 next year (think June-Sept) when the partners vote etc on whether to complete the merger. If anything, it's about continuity after the recruitment process, would be a question for Grad Rec I think as to whether they will still...
It's only been a week since the deadline and I think there's only three of them in the team manually going through every application so I wouldn't say so.
