You can update the firm as to your grades via email. How much they take it into account is very much down to the firm. You can just state you are waiting for your other modules to be marked.
How did I miss this?!
This is amazing news - so glad that you found premium helpful. You thoroughly deserved it as your posts have been so helpful to the wider TCLA community. I think this really shows how we can all play a part in helping each other and ourselves succeed!
Congratulations on...
I used to do this for a number of the firms I worked for - a couple of firms did it for the LPC and GDL - was nice preparing cheques for tens of thousands of pounds 😂.
You’ll probably just need to provide proof of purchase/receipt. The firm may only reimburse you what they would have paid for...
I think if firms have consistently low retention rates that is a worry, while firms with a consistently high retention rate are clearly doing well to manage their talent pipeline and retain talent in the firm.
I don’t think it’s valuable looking at just one intake’s retention rate - but instead...
It depends how the firm wants to manipulate the stats.
Sometimes it’s calculated on the qualifying intake minus those who don’t apply for jobs with the firm, those who aren’t offered a job (mixture of poor performers and those who only apply to departments that are over subscribed), and those...
Unlikely to be asked if you have accepted a TC but very likely to be asked where else you have applied and where you are up to in the recruitment process for the firms.
I wouldn’t say it’s as simple as it being easier one way or another. It’s going to depend a lot on your profile now, which US firms you are aiming for etc. Moving across firms, whether it’s on qualification or a few years PQE is going to depend a lot on where you qualify into, what experience...
It was 5 years ago. A lot has happened since then.
The UK entity went into administration, but the Chinese entity has since reopened an office in London. As it was a Swiss Verein, that could all easily happen.
I doubt they will recruit TCA for a while though - although the SQE could mean they...
Speak the firm about that - but it sounds like you would be only considered for a 2024 TC anyway if you did choose to do the GDL this year and reapplied.
You haven't got a English qualifying law degree, so you need to apply for the 2024 programme.
You don't need to check anything with the SRA.
The PGDL is a GDL course that you would have to make if you were going the LPC route. Many firms are still putting their trainees through a GDL...
Because the interview notes are not in a presentable format and may not make sense anyway, as its not necessarily comparing your performance to others. Follow up with them and ask for the feedback again.
Definitely works like that! They'll be keeping an eye on the pipeline of candidates coming through and withdrawing and will bring more through if needed
Not at all. If you have been told any topic, you’ll find the firm has a whole range of topics presented to them - some with absolutely no connection to law at all.
General presentation rules apply - think about your audience and keep them in mind with the content, keep it simple, keep to time...
