Ropes AC WTF?! Idek how I’ve managed this one and the AC looks intense too. I’m cooked bruh…
This has got to be the most unexpected plot twist of the entire app cycle so far for me.
I got the email a few hours ago. Sent my app on the deadline for spring and summer I believe.
How do you even begin to shortlist 3,500 apps esp for a firm that only hires 15 trainees…
They have a VS and DTC route. How many people do they give ACs, VSs and post VS TCs to?
Mayer Brown grad rec picking who gets the VS/TC like this I can alr picture it in my mind:
I’m pleased to announce I’ve received my 21st PFO of the cycle: Willkie PFO post AC. :(
Tbf it was expected cos the case study was quite hard. I’m hoping for good news soon lmao…
So far 30 apps. A few of the apps only asked for grades, work experience and/or 1 question: Weil, Freshfields, Milbank, Hogan Lovells, W&C, etc.
I tried to find a bit of balance between quality and quantity. I know some people will prefer one or the other but I think in the middle can work too!
Some people have gotten ACs post WG, but then again Orrick sent several batches of WGs, so it’s a possibility they’ll send a few batches of ACs too.
I received the WG from the first batch and haven’t heard anything yet. I’m awful at the WG so I wasn’t exactly expecting much different lmao.
For vac schemes Faegre Drinker and Haynes and Boone are still open. FD closes Feb 28 and HB on Apr 6. Both are US firms pretty decent I think.
Idk if they’re rolling or non-rolling or the ins and outs of the recruitment process. I just saw all their posts on LinkedIn and decided I should apply…...
Hi guys,
Looks like it’s time for another app status update so this is the latest version for this thread:
Apps that were rejections:
Winter VS apps:
Jones Day VS post app
HSF Kramer VS post app and test
Paul, Weiss VS post app
Cleary Gottlieb VS post app
White & Case VS post app and test...
Is anyone waiting to hear back from Ropes & Gray still for Spring or Summer VS (PFO or AC)?
I’m seeing a bunch of PFOs but I’ve got nothing so idk if they’re doing it in batches so a delayed PFO…
Idk if this will be of any help for the Cooley AC but it has AC insights on the applying section:
https://directory.thecorporatelawacademy.com/profile/cooley.48#applying
Honestly same boat here it’s been 45 days since I applied (on deadline 9 Jan) and it’s been absolute radio silence. I’ve seen TIs, ACs and PFOs post app and TI and I’m just sat like a melon…
I’d say do the VS but go in with an open mind cos you might end up deciding that the firm is in fact somewhere you’d want to train. It’s just a lot harder to know that at this stage (pre VS).
Even if the VS firm isn’t somewhere you’re keen on, there’s no guarantee you’d succeed with 2026 WVS...
That’s acc insane in this normal for a VS? Maybe it was a US firm (me thinks Milbank or Sidley)…
Do you not think staying till so late might’ve left a bad impression though at the same time?
Idk like would they have been thinking about time management and work efficiency etc? Idk I haven’t...
We’ve had all of the following people on the forum now which is acc funny asf ngl:

That’s a banging office ngl. I’m gna apply for the direct tc now just so I can possibly have a chance at seeing this in person cos wow. 🤩
*starts panic researching Paul Hastings and their work in London in preparation for the dtc app*
I feel you cos I lowkey thought I’d cooked with my cover letter for Travers Smith. Went to their insight evening in London, AS Aspire masterclass series, AS RG VDLF, legal cheek law fair booth, etc.
So that PFO hit but with this process, I’ve learned that it only ever takes one yes. The right...
