I'm not sure if any firm would do "adult nighttime entertainment" for a whole host of reasons. Even if they did - you'd be entitled to say no, just as you would with any activity.
Far more people don't drink, can't drink or limit their consumption, and I've never seen it be an issue for people...
It might be worth double checking whether it is necessary with the university before you spend time on it. I think I did have to write one but it was very basic.
Tempting as it is (and you might be joking) I wouldn't risk an accusation of misconduct for the sake of an essay that's more or less...
"It depends" (sorry!). If it's your first or among the first, and/or you've applied for a lot of firms so you need to brush up on your research, then give it a few days of prepping with a few hours each day to go through your CV, think through competencies, commercial awareness, etc.
If you're...
If you're not at all doing the SQE route but instead doing the LPC route it's an SRA requirement to do the PSC.
If your firm decides that they're still happy to let those eligible qualify via the LPC route then yes, no need to do any part of the SQE. As we're still in the transition period...
It's natural to be nervous in interviews which can definitely make remembering everything more difficult.
My advice is that for motivations and competencies, things that are more personal than commercial awareness, are better to consider out in advance as key points, and fill in the details...
No interviewer should judge you for the background if it's just the room best suited for you to do the interview. A standard room or blurred should be fine either way
Places like Total Jobs have quite a few advertised, otherwise I think people use recruitment agents.
I tried with Flex Legal and no work came my way. You have a brief application process including a very short interview, and a platform that provides job opportunities but after I was onboarded...
I applied for direct entry TCs only (which I appreciate limits the options) as I couldn't really find a way to make taking an extended period of holiday for a VS work. Plus, if you're already in work you can use that as a source of experience, development, etc regardless of whether it's in law...
As above, no harm in it, but not everyone will respond (or agree). I'd keep it polite and friendly.
I think the most important part is being mindful that they're also people with work, deadlines and personal things. The fact that you're asking means you're already conscious of being polite so...
Sorry for taking this on a tangent, but I'm hoping to try and get 6-8 weeks of temporary paralegal or doc review work in between the LPC and my TC starting so I can earn some money in the gap.
I've only found one thing suitable so far and haven't heard back, plus I've put 'open to work' up on...
I'm sorry to hear that, that must be so frustrating. As far as I understand, that does unfortunately cap your grade to a maximum of a pass as the other grades have a requirement to pass grade weighted modules at the first attempt.
Make sure you take the opportunity to talk with your tutor...
It will definitely vary FT v PT - I think in addition to the workshops I was probably doing about 5-8 hours of reading and prep a week. You could probably compress that down depending on your methods, I tended to take quite thorough notes each week
No problem! The sessions were live. It was possible to request a switch but I don't know whether or not they let people do that every week. For part-time, at least, we got to set a preference of when those sessions were. I think the choices were roughly: every weekday evening, one or two...
I did the PGDL online at BPP. I thought the course itself was good - it was thorough and delivered well. The content is online reading (quite a lot of it), some prepatory tasks in a commercial context, and a seminar per week per module. The quality of the seminar will depend on your group, as...
