Have you tried SPAGging your work experience etc? Most of the firms you applied to rejected you after spag check, so there might be some typos in the stuff that you have copy-pasted onto apps?
Yeah, it’s like “have you applied to any of the following?” And it lists some law firms, banks, etc
Strange! Also, slightly embarrassing to have to say “yes, to no avail”💀
Does anyone know why Reed Smith TC application asks whether we’ve applied to certain other banks/firms/companies?
Just seems a bit weird, am wondering why that is
I feel like this has been said before but it really depends on what the firms say, probably best to just wait to hear back from direct TC then go from there
It is lottery-based, but a big part of law is dealing with a wide range of personalities, and since it is a highly client-facing profession it is important to be able to make yourself appealing to different kinds of people.
Fundamentally it doesn’t need to be measured objectively, you just have...
May be a controversial take, but fundamentally law firms are partnerships where people work very closely together, so imo it makes sense for lawyers to be involved in the recruitment process and pick whom they find likeable, because at the end of the day they will be working long hours together...
I find it so annoying when people drag class into everything. Firstly, it's really easy to find professional-looking attire that is not too expensive -- uniqlo, zara and H&M should have simple-cut suits in normal colours for less than £60. Besides, for a vac scheme, you'll find most interns wear...
I understand your frustration. I find that the outcome of so many of those interviews (i.e. the not purely commercial/technical ones) is based on how the candidate gets on with the interviewer, which is obviously hard to pinpoint objectively..
anything from winston & Strawn post app? judging by last year's forum they sent the WG about a month after the deadline but it's been almost two months now 😅
You’re more likely to be asked what other firms you applied to and why in an interview, if there’s a reason why you chose English firms maybe bring that up :)
I think as long as you are able to make the answer interesting you’ll be fine. Could always start with something along the lines of “taking the deal/news story I discussed earlier, I think that…” or smth like that
