Hi everyone! I received an offer for the GLD assessment centre and I was wondering if anyone has any advice or useful resources for the written assessment section of the AC?

I found that many resources for written assessments or case studies are commercial law focused and I wanted to practice with more assessments more focused for the GLD.

If anyone has any help they can offer for this it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, went through the written assessment with GLD a few years ago.

I had to review 4 different scenarios within 45 minutes and answer 4-5 questions. The scenarios included a piece of email from a stakeholder (like a MP), another one was a piece of draft legislation, and then there were around two letters (or emails, I don't completely remember). The scenarios were different but interlinked with each other, i.e. it was something along the lines of a person who wished to enter a career, and the rules changed, as well as an MPs needing advice on that new provision, with other people being involved in that scenario. I was supposed to respond to the emails, give advice and answering the questions based on the scenarios given. I needed to apply my reasoning using the information given to you and common sense (there was no law that directly affected your case) and explain why you reached that advice/conclusion. Time was definitely not enough so I would suggest to make sure to read and start working on it immediately! I was then asked to explain my written assessment during the interview and why I reached those conclusions, as well as what I would have changed if the scenario was different.

Hope this helps any one else who may have the same question.
