First ever AC, what to wear (male)

Hi all not sure if this is the right place for this but... What do I wear to an AC? I'm assuming a suit? Is there a thread/post anywhere about the dos and don'ts? E.g. should it be a plain suit or does a slight windowpane pattern work? I'm broke enough paying for my SQE1 course and exam and taking a month of unpaid leave to study, so not having to buy a new one would be great. Also ties? Yes or no?

Suits yes and ties yes.

Wouldn't buy a new one. You can always remove the tie but can't magic one up instantly.

Polish your shoes too.
