For HSF VS you have to write about a topic that interests you, I attended the first year open day earlier this year so I was wondering whether I could reuse that section.

If it is still a topic that interests you, I would say so yes!

My advice would be to try and refine/redraft your answer anyway - if there is even another line of analysis/explanation to strengthen your answer it will be worth it
