Does anyone know how Reed Smith use the test results? Do they combine them with your written application, or do they invite to VI just based off of the test?

Yep, I think @Asil Ahmad is right.

Also in terms of SJTs more generally, I read this in an article recently:

“Situational judgement… assessments measure suitability rather than ability, so applicants who don't get through to the next stage of the recruitment process have not failed; rather, they have succeeded in avoiding a job and employer that would not have been a good match.”

I think this is basically correct, but obviously not great news for anyone seeking to get through. Practise where you can, and think about the personality/values that the organisation will be looking for. Ultimately, part of the reason they are being used is because they can’t be trained for very much. Here are some resources to help for any future SJTs.

https://www.testpartnership.com/psychometric-test.html - scroll down here and there is a free SJT

https://www.practicereasoningtests.com/ - free SJT here

Hope that helps :)

Thank you - that's really useful! I wonder if they're looking for a mixture of people, or if they're looking for everyone to have certain competencies 🤔
Honestly I don't get Reed Smith competencies as last year I got teamwork and commercial awareness and 1 other and my friend got commercial awareness and 2 others and my friend got VI and I did not.

Oh that's really interesting. My issue with SJTs is that, often, each (reasonable) response is one that I have done before irl, and it has worked out well. I guess I just need to stop second guessing my SJT results, and move on from Reed Smith now (and if I do receive a VI, it's a nice surprise!).
