Potentially due diligence, document review, thinking about what you'd say in a negotiation, what might go into a Share Purchase Agreement etc. I'd recommend Jake Schogger's Commercial Awareness book on this, and also Christopher Stoakes' Know the City (depending on how much time you have before the AC).

Out of curiosity, how much should I change my VS application answers from my successful open day applications? For example, if the question is "Why this law firm?", is it okay to repeat my points if I'm finding different examples to demonstrate my interest in, say, a specific practice area?

Started applying for WVS back in early September and so far it has been a really intense one and half months. Just want to summarise my journey and progress here, hopefully can serve as reference for others:

My second-year results were delayed because of marking strike so I suppose many of these firms marked my application incomplete, which explains why I have not heard from many that allegedly reviews apps on a rolling basis

A&O: Done test. Have not heard back.
HSF: Done and passed test. Rejected
NRF: Submitted recently and have not received testing info
Sidley: Submitted. Have not heard back.
W&C: Submitted. Have not heard back.
HL: Done test. Have not heard back.
Slaughters: Submitted. Received follow-up email to ask for grade clarifications. Have not heard since.

Also applied very early for Gibson Dunn and Taylor Wessing's summer vs, so far no news.

Writing applications for Cleary and Covington WVS currently. Would appreciate any and all tips and advice!

Applications (like the other two, holding myself accountable)

Slaughter and May (applied 1st sep. Direct TC interview invite on the 3rd oct)
Jones Day (applied on 18th. AC)
Ashurst (applied 26th. First-stage AC, waiting to hear if I pass).
HSF (applied 1st Oct. failed their test lol)
Linklaters (applied 2nd for open day. waiting to hear).

Planning on doing Travers for winter and HL for Winter if time allows. If anyone wants some insight into the S&M, JD, and Ashurst process, let me know. Would also be grateful for any advice on how to best navigate travers and HL :D

Another day of asking if there’s been anything from hsf?

Not that I have many expectations, but I have a nagging feeling that if they do send out more invites for ACs they’ll be with like a 1 week notice, which is not ideal if you are employed and need to take time off…
