Nope! Just an SJT and a Critical Thinking TestFor anyone thats done the online test for Shoosmiths, is there a video component?
thank you so much!Hey!
I'd say that is a really strong angle, especially for a PE-focused firm. Rather than just naming secondaries as a trend, I would try framing it around why they are increasing and what that means for clients. For example, you could ask about what is driving the rise in GP-led secondaries and how that has changed the advice that PE sponsors are seeking.
You could potentially also touch on how higher interest rates or longer exit timelines are shaping PE strategies. I personally found that trying to phrase questions as open-ended and using "why/how" helped to frame the questions in the right way for insight days! Overall, I think the best way to show commercial awareness at events is to be genuinely curious - make sure to ask questions on practice areas that you are interested in, as well as those that the firm is known for!
Best of luck with the insight day - sounds like you're preparing well already!![]()
I believe that "from the date you receive this email" refers to the date, otherwise it would say "time you receive", and that the deadline is therefore 23:59With the DAC Beachcroft VI, "You have 5 days from the date you receive this email to complete the video interview."
If you received the email at 09:00 on Wednesday, would the deadline be 09:00 on Monday or end of the day Monday, 23:59.
Does anybody know? Thanks!
...how do i sign up to these? both my email and phone notifications are all empty and silent on mineI want vouchers too!!
(also would like offers, but I'm sure one will land in your inbox soon!!)
Hi, would you mind telling me whether it's for placement or dtcHi guys are people still waiting shoosmiths online test - I applied the day before deadline and have seen people who applied on the deadline receive it so feel its not looking good idk oops
I think without seeing what you wrote it’s really hard to give guidance, though I think structure goes a long way and starting out by plotting this out as a skeleton before adding the fleshed out paragraphs. You often can’t cover every topic either so best to choose 2-3 and answer them well.Hi, does anyone here have any advice on written exercises and how to improve? I was rejected from Willkie and Skadden this application cycle after the WEs. I did prepare for them in advance (nothing crazy, just practice based on online materials)
I would appreciate some advice on how others prepare for them, especially so I can learn from those two rejections … Thank you!!

I think structure is the most important - it’s often client facing so getting that right is a big +Yeah I second this too. Tbh I find these WEs are highly unpredictable like I literally fumbled the Skadden WE. I thought I’d cooked on Dechert’s and flopped Willkie’s but then I’d had the complete opposite results (Dechert PFO, Willkie AC).
The most important thing imo is planning and structure. Breezy shared the 25/50/25 rule: spend 25% of the time planning, 50% on writing up the response, and then the remaining 25% to rly go through it, proofread and check for SPAG.
