Does anyone have any advice on reapplying to firms in the same cycle (rejected for VS but reapplying for DTC? If I got through the initial app stage but was rejected post assessment is it acceptable to reuse my original application or should I be writing completely new answers?

Hello!

This is an interesting question! I would approach it as a commercial reasoning question rather than a test of technical knowledge. The most important thing is to choose on client and clearly explain why they interest you, instead of trying to name a few clients or show off specific detail.

I'd start by briefly explaining what the client does and the sector they operate in, and then link this to the type of work that the firm does for them. From there, you can explain what kinds of matters you might be exposed to as a trainee and why you would find that interesting or challenging (based on your past experiences or future career goals).

It might also be helpful to mention a current issue or trend that is affecting that client or sector, and how the firm could support them. You definitely don't need to go into legal technicalities - the interviews / graduate recruitment team are usually looking for you to display commercial awareness and clear motivation.

As long as your answer is specific and genuinely reasoned, it should come across well! Best of luck! :)
thank you so much !!!

Can someone please explain me to the logic of firms delaying PFOs? For example, it is quite clear that Debevoise have sent out all of their open day invites, but those of us in the PFO camp are left waiting, clinging on to the tiniest bit of false hope.
They have??? I am screwed!! I genuinely want to know tho, bc I am waiting for PFOs from White & Case and Gibson Dunn too. I have seen ppl receive ACs/ WE/ VS offers and I am just left here like?????? GD especially have also said you can apply again after having completed an AC last year, which I did. In the meantime, I’ve significantly improved my profile and my application is ten times stronger, yet I haven’t received any response. Why not be honest from the start instead of giving me false hope and having me spend hours on an application for nothing? Sorry for the rant lol just had an awful day (and cycle)

Yeah I get that - I spent weeks and week on my debevoise app and I was confident that my application was solid but now it's looking like a PFO. Just want them to put me out of my misery.
