If we are being pedantic, not a tu quoque fallacy - Donna acknowledged that the point is correct, while separately (appriopriately or not) pointing out hypocrisy :)
no - you can acknowledge the correctness, still deflect from the substance of the argument, and imply the user wasn't in a position to criticise, so the fallacy stands. saying "the point is correct" doesn't magically exempt the fallacy because logical fallacies are about function, not polite disclaimers.

I'm going to second this. The argument for allowing applicants to "relieve stress" in the same forum is a bit overused when you look at how many posts are actually just GIFs and jokes more recently, to the point where it became genuinely difficult to find the information I had been looking for.
the search function works pretty well, although sometimes abbreviations can create ambiguity.
As i posted last year, you can do

In Chrome enter chrome://settings/searchEngines into the URL bar, then click 'add' under site search, then give it a name and shortcut (can be both the same, I chose tclavs), then the search URL is:

https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/search/1987654321/?q=%s&t=post&c[thread]=9717&o=date

If you want to add one for the TC thread, the URL would be

https://www.thecorporatelawacademy.com/forum/search/1987654321/?q=%s&t=post&c[thread]=9718&o=date
so then if you type tclavs skadden into the Chrome URL bar, and hit enter, it will directly take you the date-sorted search results for the VS thread, and similarly if you've set up the other as tclatc you can do likewise for the TC thread.

The volume of posts in these threads has never made it particularly practical to read every page.

While I think the sense of community is cute and wholesome I would really appreciate being able to see information on the forum.

The jokes and support messages are very nice and that’s why I think there should be a dedicated space for that kind of discussion

If people’s posts get deleted for “derailing the forum” when they discuss eg the fairness of contextual offers, they should also be deleted when people make 20 posts on fake law firms. For consistency’s sake.
I think now we can all agree.

Please @Jaysen 🙏🏻

What things are people mentioning in interviews when asked about what key legal trends are affecting the industry right now? Please help
I think it depends on the firm and your interests. For my TW AC I'm prepping on AI, Pharmaceuticals and investment trends in life sciences because I'm genuinely interested in that sector (and the orange tariff man who shall not be named).

Please peeps correct me if this approach could be improved though.

No one is saying that the nonsense shouldn’t happen, just that it shouldn’t happen here
I get where yous are all coming from but I do have one question: why are we policing what should be appropriate to post or not post beyond something being offensive or rude which the admin team deals with anyway?

People create their own threads to have focused discussions on particular firms all the time. They don’t get infiltrated by gifs or memes cos they’re purely made to discuss that particular issue. The traffic on this thread will always be super busy.

People create application tracking threads, firm response threads, AC advice threads, etc. In the same way you can suggest a different thread for memes and gifs, surely the same can be said for seeking information on specific firms.

My opinion is neither should happen. The voting poll that @Jaysen put up earlier indicates what the majority of users on this particular thread prefer, with 33 people voting for this thread to stay as it is and 14 voting for separate threads.

We all have different preferences and views on this issue. I think we can agree to disagree!

This is the only post I’m gna make cos I rly don’t want to have a repeat of yesterday lmao.

Made it to 5:30 with no AC invites or any comms whatsoever from any firm… but also no PFOs! A small win is still a win 🤘🏼
Me too, I was in a bit panic when none of the firm I applied to was mentioned on this forum the past few days. But hey, no PFO is still a win, and 1000029648.jpg
