I applied to SH for the Summer Vac Scheme and completed the Amberjack and never heard anything back from them even after I emailed to make an enquiry about hearing back. So, I think SH is not always the best at letting people know outcomes!Exactly, it’s really not that difficult to mass reject everyone??
I think it can depend on how you describe your extracurriculars and work experiences, and also the questions. They may have more achievements but you could certainly make your achievements impressive and aligned with the skills they look forHey guys... How do you stand out when you are competing with people who are topping their cohort and have more awards/achievements? What if you don't have that?
That's really not good... On another note before an application to another firm, I emailed and submitted online contact form a few times but got no replies. Gave up because those questions weren't that essential. But then I saw the recruitment manager posting quite a lot on LinkedIn about their work and achievements. Well what about your / your team's basic duties?I applied to SH for the Summer Vac Scheme and completed the Amberjack and never heard anything back from them even after I emailed to make an enquiry about hearing back. So, I think SH is not always the best at letting people know outcomes!
That's a really good reminder! I may be giving an impression that I am ranting a lot haha but am actually just a bit annoyed at how they were not informing candidates of outcome. I had been working on other applications throughout the process and not been fixated on waiting to hear back. Let's all keep this mindset!Just to give my view, I get it’s frustrating if a firm sends out slow outcomes like SH.
But it’s best not to get too focused on one firm, and instead move onto the next application.
You don’t need to wait to hear back before moving on and focusing on other things- that’s a form of procrastination. I’m sure we’re all guilty of that to an extent but it’s not healthy.
If you’re at uni you could check if they offer free Assessment Day which has WG exercises. May offer to alumni tooHi! Any tips on free or cheap Watson-Glaser resources? I feel like I've exhausted every free online resource there is online, on TCLA or CLA etc and I need to practice so badly. Or is there a really good resource you would reccomend investing in if it is a bit more pricey?
Are there any other community assistants on the team with extensive grad rec experience?Jess is no longer on the forums. It’s best to tag/ask one of the other community assistants or wider TCLA team.
