TCLA Direct Training Contract Applications Discussion Thread 2024-5

Genuinely, I also find it really weird it’s taking them so long to get back to the rest of us, they seemed quite organised to me. If they’re done shortlisting, surely sending the rejection emails shouldn’t take more than a few minutes
They kind of did the same thing with Vac Scheme responses tbh. I'm not sure why but seems like its potentially a pattern...

It took time and costly, usually they will send the rejection after the AC-final stage or recruitment cycle is over.
I get it but I don’t think this applies here, because when we were invited to complete the last stage of the process we were informed of the AC dates (which are next Tue and Wed) so we would expect to be informed of the outcome.

Exactly, it’s really not that difficult to mass reject everyone??
I applied to SH for the Summer Vac Scheme and completed the Amberjack and never heard anything back from them even after I emailed to make an enquiry about hearing back. So, I think SH is not always the best at letting people know outcomes!

Hey guys... How do you stand out when you are competing with people who are topping their cohort and have more awards/achievements? What if you don't have that?
I think it can depend on how you describe your extracurriculars and work experiences, and also the questions. They may have more achievements but you could certainly make your achievements impressive and aligned with the skills they look for

That's really not good... On another note before an application to another firm, I emailed and submitted online contact form a few times but got no replies. Gave up because those questions weren't that essential. But then I saw the recruitment manager posting quite a lot on LinkedIn about their work and achievements. Well what about your / your team's basic duties?

Just to give my view, I get it’s frustrating if a firm sends out slow outcomes like SH.

But it’s best not to get too focused on one firm, and instead move onto the next application.

You don’t need to wait to hear back before moving on and focusing on other things- that’s a form of procrastination. I’m sure we’re all guilty of that to an extent but it’s not healthy.
