Hey all, not sure if this is the best thread for this, but for firms like HSFK and Milbank, if I have a 2:1 overall, with a first in contract, but a 2:2 in a jurisprudence-esque module, would I get auto-filtered or be affected in my application?

I don’t know about Milbank, but HSFK you won’t. I got a 1st but had a 2.2 in EU law and still progressed

Is there any essay question for Milbank? I’m only seeing the work history, so I’m a bit confused. I thought they would ask for a cover letter ?

Hi all! As Jaysen said, I'll be filling in Abbie's role until someone is hired permanently.

I'm a future trainee at Skadden, while also having attended some vac schemes elsewhere. Hopefully my advice will be useful. Please feel free to ask me about any of them, and of course the usual queries and questions.

I was quite active on the forum last year, albeit anonymously, so I'm excited to help out wherever I can and pass on all the goodwill.

I have heard some grad rec people say they operate a strike system when they spot mistakes, if that helps?

Also if it was a mistake in the company name, I don’t think it would cause any issues until reference checks, which you can always amend during the onboarding process if they do it through a reference agency like Experian etc. I wouldn’t stress too much

Depending on which uni you go to, you might already have a subscription to one of those test prep websites through your university email. Otherwise, I know CC has a free WG practice test.

for vacation scheme CVs, should i include experiences from school? for context i'm going into my final year now and i have uni experience too, so i'm thinking of deleting all my school leadership and volunteering experiences

Hi, of course I don't know the details of your experiences but generally I would still include it . A 2-page CV is acceptable for Law and you never know how much value a recruiter might put onto any one of your experiences. For context, I'm in same boat as you and never really cut any of my experiences.

Of course if you have plenty of relatively overlapping ones you could prioritise which ones to keep but that's very dependent on the experiences themselves.

Hi, I understand your concern but I think you should be fine!

Of course this is really dependent on the firm though. I don't want to speak for any Graduate Recruitment's official policies but there are firms that notably put emphasis on all 2:1's (like Linklaters) or those that prefer high 2:1's and firsts (like Sull Crom and Slaughters).

However, if there isn't something very clear on the internet on it, I would say you're fine. A single 2:2 (with other decent grades) is more than enough usually.

I can't speak for those two specifically but I wouldn't be discouraged !
