Just needing a bit of closure wrt to my Paul, Weiss PFO, so that I can move on with my life.
Did everyone's rejection email say:
"We encourage you to apply again in the next cycle, which will open in September.
Thank you once again for your interest in Paul, Weiss. We wish you the very best...
Ugh that is so annoying, although, I imagine loads of applicants would just abort the process half-way if they knew their SJT score. Thank you so much for letting us know and I'm sorry it caught you off-guard!
Can I also ask, do you get your results before doing the 2 written questions? If I end up doing poorly on the SJT part, I wouldn't want to waste another couple of hours doing the written responses.
I haven't applied yet, but I think I came across another post from many weeks ago too that said that apparently there are 2x500 word questions as part of the 'blended assessment'. Someone more informed can provide the details...
I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it in the email lol.
Thank you!
My mark was similar and I got the same notable dip in the applied intellect, so I have no idea what to make of them either... Best of luck to us!
That's correct - it's just the SJT with its associated numerical reasoning and verbal reasoning components. It was very generic scenarios, not tailored to law at all.
Regarding the Browne Jacobson one - did you have unlimited time to do the 2 written questions? I was told they were like 500...
Tbh, I'm not sure it really matters. I do get the sense that they weigh the SJT stuff more. I scored in the 79th percentile in the WG aspects and still got rejected. I also recall seeing someone who scored in the 90s getting rejected.
I might add that this was for the Open Day, so not sure if...
I hope you're also including in your work experience descriptions all of the things you learned about how the retail businesses operate because that's all very relevant commercial awareness that you wouldn't get from doing purely legal work!
Just did the WBD SJT and wow the scenarios were so generic, seemed more tailored to non-law roles...perhaps they used the wrong test? The follow-up email says "We hope you found it interesting and enjoyed getting a glimpse into what life is like at Womble Bond Dickinson". LOL
Scored 6479 on...
Honestly, I've referred to work experience from almost 10 years ago as what 'spurred my interest in the law' and it hasn't stopped me from progressing. As long as you can write a plausible narrative around your debating experience and what more you've done to explore the interest, you should be...
I imagine they're probably sending them in batches, as there weren't any application questions. I can't imagine there was anything for them to assess in the app.
