Are there any benefits to applying to a winter or spring scheme? Particularly if you’re eligible for both??
The firm doesn’t review applications on a rolling basis
Just wanted to get some other views or comments on this.
How would you go about answering: what skills can you bring?
I think this is getting at transferable skills ... teamwork, communication, time management, etc.
Before I write up the wrong answer wanted to double check.
How would you...
Really helpful @Selma95 @Lawgirlxo !!
Don’t think I will ever be able to enjoy the process and applications. But I try to just manage my expectations and not put any pressure on myself. Just do a little each day whether that’s drafting a question or research on a bus or train (time management)...
Can I also chip in (suggest amending the title as a result) to ask alongside time management how people keep going?? And find the motivation to keep researching and drafting up applications and applying?
Agree with Selma that the cycle has hardly been open for long and I’m already struggling...
Are you expected to do extensive research and address cover letters to a specific person?? Or is a generic address acceptable where no name is provided within the form.
I’ll try and do as many as I can get done, whilst maintaining a work-life balance and sanity or before I lose the motivation/have my soul destroyed by rejections.
I would really suggest doing more than 5-6, unless you’ve highly targeted firms and there are only that many which specialise in a...
How would people go about answering: tell us about you, both good and bad??
It’s the later part which is slightly of putting.

Sorry another question from me. I can’t find the abbreviation thread I started. They refer to themselves as Kirkland & Ellis International LLP. Is it okay to refer to them as K&E or Kirkland & Elllis?? More so the later.
I know some firms will stop reading your application if you refer to them...
Probably saying something we all already know, but, this is a fiercely competitive process! It can be demoralising, depressing and soul destroying, if you let it.
All you, I or anyone applying during this process can do is to keep going and not let concern or anxiety act as a barrier - easier...
Hmm thanks. Food for thought.
Even for so called “specialists” like Kirkland in the PE space or HSF in litigation?
Might be a refreshing/different application answer. But would it not shout out a lack of research? I imagine if the why was tailored to you, it could be justified. Firm do advise...
Question I’ve been thinking about as I’m researching a firm and trying to write up why I want to work for them...
Is it possible to have a good why us answer without reference to deals or rankings or high profile clients but instead by reference to the type of work and type of firm??
Just wanted to get some further clarity. Where you’re asked to write about the impact on law firms of a commercial issue, is it advisable to tailor the issue to that specific firm?
By way of example I mean, not to talk about the Aston Martin IPO for a firm that is known for its litigation work...
