TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2022-23

Alright then, I've sent an email asking if I can apply for a work placement so will see if they are still offering them 'informally'.

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2022-23

Does anyone know whether Paul Hastings does work placements? On lawcareers it says they offer informal work placements but there is nothing on their website that indicates they do? Is it worth emailing them about this?

I got a response from NRF on their minimum 2.1 requirements for contract and tort modules. They said they view the application as a whole and you won't necessarily be disqualified.

Literally on their FAQS page: https://www.nortonrosefulbright.com/en-gb/graduates/apply/faqs That's why they ask for if you have 2.1's in both on the app

TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2022-23

I submitted my app to Norton Rose Fulbright and then realised they have a minimum 2.1 requirement for Tort and Contract. I have a 73 in Tort and 57 in Contract, does this mean I'll get auto-rejected? My average in both is technically 65% and it seems like a silly requirement to have anyway, I...

In terms of building rapport with interviewers that was probably my weakest point, I felt that some of my answers didn't do enough to impress and I did notice an eye roll when I mentioned that I like studying law 'generally'. I am not sure if I would get these opportunities again as you say they...

Just got my rejection from Freshfields, so make that two vac scheme rejections after assessment centres(rejected from Hogans too). Feeling pretty devastated can't lie and not sure how to take any of this positively. They said they'd offer a feedback call in late March which feels like ages...

Thanks, I feel my general interview ended a bit awkwardly with Freshfields though since I initially forgot to press end call and was still on for a few seconds longer than I needed to be. I feel the analytical and written assessment went well though so could offset this :) Not many firms left...

Just did the half assessment day with Freshfields in Jan but they still haven't got back to me. They said it could take a couple weeks but now I am nervous. I recently got a rejection from Hogan Lovells after taking part in their assessment centre so my confidence is pretty low now.

That makes sense if they are considered part of the same recruitment cycle. I am guessing that most firms recruit on a rolling basis for these schemes?

Can you apply for both winter and summer scheme at the same firm?

Are my first year grades good enough for Vac schemes?

Thanks, I just feel tons of pressure since some of my friends at uni already have a number of first year schemes so I feel I have to get one aswell. I’ve done an insight day with Freshfields as part of the Stephen Lawrence scholarship and did an assessment for the scholarship. But since I...

Are my first year grades good enough for Vac schemes?

My results first year were 73 Tort, 71 Public, 64 Understanding Law and 57 in Contract. Would my grades meet the threshold for most firms? Especially with the low contract score? I also have poorer A-level results than most (AAB) even though I'm studying at Nottingham where most have straight...
