D&I is commonly used enough that the acronym is fine. If you are referring to something the firm does, just double check this is the acronym they use as there are a lots of similar acronyms (ED&I for instance).
I wouldn’t overthink this too much. Most of how you would write something is common sense. What you have listed above would be suitable (assuming the instructions are aligned to this particular format).
There are a couple of free mock written case studies here...
In the instance you are talking about, all the trainees secured other roles, so clearly were in demand from other firms anyway.
There is a whole recruitment market around hiring NQs, so I wouldn’t worry to much about how common it is - it happens a lot across firms.
Language (and content) needs to be appropriate to the audience. Think about what your reader would already know/what they would care about.
In terms of structure, I’d usually suggest some form of executive summary to start with and concluding with any actions that need to be undertaken at the...
I would mention more than one point when discussing what makes the firm different than competitors - realistically you probably want to aim for three points if you can.
In terms of introducing yourself in a CV blind interview, I would still take a “elevator pitch” approach to this. Focus on...
I have never heard of a TC salary being negotiable where there is more than one trainee being hired. If it is an adhoc trainee programme with one hire every now and then, there could be some wiggle room. But as soon as you are part of an intake, the salary is set.
It was nearly three years ago and at a very odd time (in the height of the worst retraction in the economy in 300 years). I think it’s slightly deceptive that it’s the only firm to have reported this - many firms may not have reported their figures and even if they did, having only three...
Many firms will say you have to reapply for the London office.
Regional offices unfortunately have this happen too much, and so they tend to be fairly strict on the process, as ultimately you didn’t apply to the London opportunity and we’re assessed on the basis of joining the regional office...
I think it has to be broader than that. You can emphasise certain points that are of particular interest to you, and frame it as “what differentiates you from my perspective is…” but I think it’s important to ensure there are elements that are more as to how the firm markets/positions itself...
I would call the VS firm and explain you have been invited to an AC that has no flexibility with dates and ask whether it would be possible to take that day off. You can then reference you'd be happy to make the time up that week to your department.
Your VS firm could say no though, especially...
Many people use LinkedIn on a completely professional level and will only connect with people who are significant people they work with/network with regularly rather than adding everyone.
At the moment, this is a bit like you meeting a friend's friend down the pub for the first time and you...
It really doesn't mean anything.
A lot of lawyers take the approach of unless they need to respond to something (e.g. there is an action they must take), they won't respond.
I think you'll need to tread carefully with that specifically, as typically in-house work you are generally doing a broader range of work (you would have more variety in the types of legal work you do) but you'd only be doing it for one client. So you would need to focus your answer on why the...
