Yes - I think it’s possible. You can show your interest in what you have been learning/reading, by trying to inform yourself about the sector through events or networking with people in the industry.
If you have none of these when applying, it would need a clear, rational detail as to why that...
If the work experience hasn’t been signed off as qualifying work experience or you haven’t checked with the previous employer that they will sign it off or not (whether in the U.K. or not), I would put no.
You can’t calculate UCAS points as international qualifications do not have a calculation. If it is an optional question I would leave it blank. If you have to complete it I would either put N/A or 0.
The U.K. is made up of different educational systems. We don’t have one - you can study either...
You include both the law firm job and the volunteer role with your family company.
It being a family company is not an issue - lots of people work for their family businesses.
And having five months of employment is better than having none. These days it is very rare you have to explain why...
My post was to describe the conversation as a whole, not just the responses to you, and I would encourage you to reflect on your active role in that unnecessary conversation if you have an issue with it.
It is one submission per calendar month if you want feedback.
I’ll check whether you can access it more generally to practice (but not get feedback from the TCLA team).
I have been busy working today, so haven’t picked up the posts this afternoon, but please can we keep this civil and just drop this tone around “brudda”, whether that be something you chose to use language wise in the forums, or whether you then try to use it back at people who have.
I haven’t...
I would personally go if you can.
It's not that it gives you any automatic progression to assessments for a VS/TC, but I think attending can really help your application stand out from the crowd.
If they like you from the open day, they will be looking out for your application and I think when...
They have found that information out restrospectively, not because they are actively thinking "we should give this person three times more chance than the next candidate".
It is correlation that is creating this, not a direct policy that "lets" candidates have a stronger chance.
What I would stress is it is not that Clifford Chance "let" people who did their Forage internship have a 3x higher chance of getting through, they have just found that those who have done the programmes have a three times higher chance of getting through.
It is important not to think too rigidly with these things before you see the assessment.
How you would approach one written exercise could be completely different to the next, depending on the task you have been given and the audience you are writing for.
The use of heading/subheading is...
Random late-night top tip when writing applications!
I would recommend avoiding the term "interpersonal skills" and claiming you have them. Interpersonal skills are actually a broad and diverse mix of skills and the term is so vague it can often be less impactful using it.
Here are just some...
If the firm has a strength in employment law and you are likely to sit in this department during your training contract, that would be fine to include. You may just want to supplement this with other aspects as to why you want to be a commercial lawyer at that firm.
Depends on the firm - some Spring applications get more apps, some summer schemes get more apps. I would always apply to what scheme works best for you, as the standard of candidates they invite to interview wont be any different between the two firms.
Ultimately it is up to you how you want to approach this.
Given firm B is your first choice though, I don't see any reason why you couldn't proceed with the interview/final AC and see how it goes. You can always renege on firm A if needed.
If you got an offer for firm B, then you would have to...
