There really isn't any set amount of time.
Some people can send a successful application off with little preparation. Others will spend many days pouring over an application.
I would do what is right for you and for that application to that specific firm.
Hi everyone - just to say January is our peak time in the forums and I won't be able to answer everyone's questions. A lot of what I typically answer can be found using the forum search function where the same questions have been asked before, so I would encourage you to use this as you are...
I would start looking 6-8 weeks before you are available. Most paralegal roles have a fairly short recruitment process and want people to start fairly soon.
No - they won’t go back and look at your previous insight day application.
There is an element of being “judged” on the day, even if not formally. People make judgements on one another based on their interactions. There have been people whose applications I have been hoping to receive after...
Recruitment for open days/insight programmes is a very different process. The firm won’t see it as a waste of money at all. In fact, it’s a much cheaper way to find the talent you want.
It is a subjective process not an objective one, even with all the good will and infrastructure/policy to put things in place to make the process as consistent and fair as possible. That is the thing about it being all about individual human beings - you can’t make it objective.
As I said to...
I would echo this. They are probably only interviewing less than 50 people too, so around 1 in 20-25 people will get an interview.
That is probably less than the people that have attended their open days/careers events etc.

In particular, I’d like to point out our follow thoughts:
Hi @hopefullawyer123 - you don't need to directly link it to a career in commercial law/being a lawyer, but you may want to think about what elements of your characteristics align well with being a lawyer and focus on those aspects that have shaped those elements to you.
Any examples are going...
Highly unlikely for most firms, especially missing the first week of one scheme as you need to go through a whole load of onboarding processes.
But it has been known - its just rare.
You can apply, but I think you’d get filtered out at some point in the process anyway. For a city like Bristol and specifically for VS applications, they will not be wanting people who are trying to build their CV up, they will be looking for potential TC converts who are committed to the region.
You can talk about the personal aspects that tie you to the location outside of work, but I would try to also include anything about the specifics of the work that the firm does in that office too.
Because they want to make sure you are committed to that location.
Regional firms have had decades of people trying to game the recruitment system by thinking if they apply to a less popular office, they can be successful in the recruitment process and then try to upgrade the offer to the...
There are usually a handful of mistakes in a CV - I still find the occasional one in mine every time I review it. At one of the firms I worked for 99% of their trainees (the people they hired) had a mistake on their application.
