I can’t see it hindering an application. The bit that is interesting to the recruiter is what you developed an interest in, not where you did it though, so naming another firm isn’t going to automatically improve an application either.
I suspect it’s somewhere in the middle. It’s probably been sent to a group of candidates (and therefore not personalised) but won’t have been sent to all candidates.
No - I don’t think it’s a reflection of their training. The team will be exceptionally busy and unfortunately it won’t be a priority, especially if you have accepted the offer.
It could be a range of reasons why, but it sounds like decisions are staggered and therefore you are still in contention. If it was a straight no, you would have heard back by now. They maybe looking at other candidates (both VS and direct TC applicants) and waiting to see how accepting TC offer...
They would apply for a skilled persons visa for you (assuming they meet the criteria and are willing to do so). You’d need to speak to the firm in question as to whether they do this for trainees.
You may want to be clearer on your application that you currently have EU settlement status but...
A couple of things:
1) You could explain to the firm you didn’t do a VS with that you’d like to come in for a half day or so to meet some lawyers and spend time in the firm. You can explain your position as to why you are requesting if that could be possible
2) you could also ask the 2024 firm...
The test provider is probably the best contact to speak to as they will know the adjustments that can/cannot be provided. It wouldn't be unusual to go to the test provider for this, as they typically also have to make the adjustments rather than the law firm and therefore it's a lot quicker (as...
Hi @futuretraineesolicitor - I'd be mindful to ask questions more about their role in the law firm rather than their directorships in other organisations. You should focus on the opportunity with the firm itself.
To me things like due diligence and market research are more the processes you would undertake rather than the things you would look out for. I am not commercially aware, but I suspect it’s more things like the specifics of the business. Operating costs, appointments of key staff (and whether...
I wouldn’t say that most are extremely flexible. Many are, but to say most are is probably a little over exaggerated.
The market is pretty buoyant at the moment though (not sure how long this will last) and many firms/organisations are having to be more flexible, especially if they can’t offer...
It was only updated at the end of July, so I suspect it might not be updated again for a couple of more months.
Firm's don't tend to confirm their deadlines etc until just before the recruitment cycle starts - which for many, won't be until October.
Exactly this - you would just get a student visa and have to pay for that. Unfortunately, if you have applied for the graduate visa and ultimately don't end up using it for much time because you convert to the student visa, you are unlikely to get any refund on it.
Hey everyone,
Here is the master thread for all general discussions in the 2022-23 cycle. This is often best suited for discussions that do not fit into either the vacation scheme or direct training contract application queries.

Hi everyone,
With a new recruitment cycle starting in the next few weeks, we thought it best to start a new master thread to discuss direct training contract applications for the 2022-2023 application cycle.

Be mindful that working in some locations may not be possible if you are not a citizen of the country or currently living there (e.g. on a student visa). It is probably worthwhile checking basic eligibility requirements for such internships in these types of locations with the recruiter/hiring...
