    It was only updated at the end of July, so I suspect it might not be updated again for a couple of more months. Firm's don't tend to confirm their deadlines etc until just before the recruitment cycle starts - which for many, won't be until October.

    Exactly this - you would just get a student visa and have to pay for that. Unfortunately, if you have applied for the graduate visa and ultimately don't end up using it for much time because you convert to the student visa, you are unlikely to get any refund on it.
