No, I'm saying they would after the original poster queried if they don't read applications received after Christmas. It wouldn't make sense/would be unfair if they kept their window open for 2 weeks to receive applications they just wouldn't review.
I was planning to apply today. Seeing as it's still 16 days until the application window shuts, I imagine they'd close like other firms do if they don't review anymore that come in post-Christmas. Would be unfair to let people spend time writing applications in the knowledge they won't even read...
When discussing a current news article that's relevant to the firm/its clients, is it particularly beneficial to talk about something niche?
I was planning to discuss the EU AI Act and its implications, but I figured that half of applicants have probably chosen to talk about AI in some form...
I applied for Spring and still haven’t heard…
Presuming that’s not a good sign when they likely review the Spring ones first or am I overthinking it? This cycle has driven me insane 😭
I applied exactly the same time and am still yet to hear. It unnerves me when others are hearing and mine is still under review but suppose it's not a PFO yet so keeping the faith!
Went to apply for Fieldfisher and I see their deadline is 6 January 2024; however, it says applications are closed.
I presume they fill spaces on a rolling basis and no longer feel the need to keep the application window open and this isn't an error?
How do they determine benchmarks with SJTs?
Where you have to rank 5 scenarios in terms of what you're most likely to do to least likely, do they have a "correct" list which they compare it to and whoever gets the closest to that hits the benchmark?
Anyone heard anything further from HSF with regards to AC invites?
I saw a few PFOs last week and have seen one AC invite but are the majority still waiting?
When firms have WG/test benchmarks, if you pass the benchmark, do they then care about your specific score in the context of the rest of the application?
For instance, if you just scraped the benchmark and were up against someone who performed strongly, would that count against you if your...
Completed the test a couple of weeks back. From memory, it was timed but not for the whole test but per question (you only had 3 minutes to answer 2 questions on a set passage).
In terms of format, it’s essentially a WG but harder (they throw in “fairly strong”/“fairly weak”/“very...
I generally just tend to lump Forage programmes together as one entry on the work experience section, before specifying a few of the tasks I did and skills gained. Suppose that's a fine approach if the tasks align with what a trainee at the firm may do/in their field?
Thank you so much! Initially thought of completing their individual Forage programmes just so I could put them on there but seems like an unproductive use of time at this stage 🤣
I typically group Forage programmes all together as one entry on the work experience programme, unless it's the...
If you're applying to a firm and haven't done their Forage programme but mention doing others, is that something that will count against you?
Just worried that a firm won't think I'm that invested in them as a first-choice if I'm completed six Forage programmes with other firms but not theirs...
Would anyone be able to clarify if Mischon are rolling or non-rolling please? It has the following on their website:
We don't recruit on a rolling basis and whilst we do read all Vacation Scheme applications that have been submitted, we would recommend that you look to apply earlier to give you...
I'm in the processing of completing a last minute Bird & Bird app. Seeing people are receiving AC invites and have progressed to VIs, is this just a waste of my time?
I’m in the same boat. I think it’s just an automated response as they likely get more summer applicants.
I don’t really see the point in replying as like you said, it won’t change the outcome. Completely relate to how frustrating it is though given the effort put into applications :(
I wouldn’t advise against it as it’s never going to hurt but I feel the practice test they gave you was sufficient for getting a taste of it/the style. Best of luck though!
