    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

Hey - would this be with a view to answer variations of 'what business news story are you interested in and why?', or are you thinking about which topics you might be directly asked about in your interview?

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

I haven’t used clubhouse much but open to it! We’d be more likely to support something that’s student-led rather than running one ourselves for the time being (I generally just prefer content that sticks around). If you or anyone else wants to run with this though, feel free to drop me a PM...

Those of you working on your commercial awareness, I'd recommend having a read of the budget tomorrow. For TCLA, we'll be watching out for the likely increase in corporation tax! Aiming to write a short summary of the most relevant points in our newsletter tomorrow, so feel free to subscribe if...

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

Really agree with this. In some interviews, you could just put it down to the people interviewing you (and not necessarily a reflection on the firm). At the same time, sometimes you do get a bad feeling about a firm from the interview, and it could well be a sign that that firm isn't right for you.

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

Completely understandable - I should add that no-one should feel bad for not being able to send off a high volume of total applications. It's more about sending off as many applications as you reasonably can, given your own circumstances. If you're working full time, you should be happy if you...

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

This is a big reason why I promote sending out applications to many firms. I've spoken to a lot of candidates this cycle who only applied to a handful of firms and received straight rejections. Unfortunately, due to the competition, I think there are very few candidates who are able to send off...

A fresh reminder of this ^ We just had a user (User 1) who reached out to another user (User 2) asking about interview questions for a particular firm. User 1 pretended to have also interviewed at that firm, making it seem as if they were just asking about the toughest questions that User 2 was...

Out With the Old, In With The New(s)? Not for Facebook Australia

Found this to be quite a shocking decision by Australia! Equally, Facebook's response by temporarily banning news links from Australian users shows how powerful it is as an organisation. For us, it's worth keeping in mind one of the most relevant parties to the UK is the Competition and...

    2020-21 Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion

In addition to the great comments the others have added, as a last resort consider trying to reschedule an AC, as opposed to dropping out. If you were honest about the stresses you are under next week, perhaps with the law firm that you are less fussed about, it may be possible that they could...

Goodbye, Fiat: Tesla’s Investment in Bitcoin

Very interesting to read your thoughts on this. I remember seeing Brian's post when it popped up on Twitter. I can't say I'm convinced it'll deter investors/employees in a way that makes a difference to the company's financial performance. If anything, I think some people will be attracted to...

Goodbye, Fiat: Tesla’s Investment in Bitcoin

Will be interesting to follow Coinbase's direct listing. Points to anyone who can explain why they chose a direct listing rather than a traditional IPO. For anyone who wants a fun read, here is their prospectus. I would actually recommend scanning through this - it gives a good insight into...
