My interview with Jones day was with two partners and lasted about 40 minutes. They were very friendly and really let you lead the conversation to where you wanted it to go. Nothing really came up that I wasn’t expecting, but they did grill me on what I said. I would suggest getting...
When was it?
Mid November 2018
What was it for?
Vacation Scheme (although the Training contract interview process is exactly the same)
First interview: Case Study
The first interview is a case study. You are given a document bundle to read through within 30 minutes. You then have to give...
You might want to consider creating a thread for this. I'm aware of a few students on here who have had A&O interviews before and they might be able to help!
Yes the question is about identifying the skills you have, but you should use examples across your experiences to justify how you have developed those skills. Try to think about how they would be useful to your role as a trainee. Be specific and really think about what trainees must do day-to-day.
On a slightly different topic, I found this to be a great read: https://www.scotthyoung.com/blog/2018/12/13/productivity-guilt/. The article is titled: "What is productivity guilt? (And how to prevent it?)".

If the question is only "Why do you want to attend an Open Day at Reed Smith, you don't have to include why you are interested in commercial law/your commercial knowledge. It sounds like the reasons you have given already are very good.
When I first got my TC I kept imagining ways they'd take it off me, so you're not alone there! As Daniel said, if you included your grades in your application form then I don't see you having a problem.
Thanks for the votes all. I will record the M&A class first. I have been delayed due to the volume of applications we have received, but I will get to this soon.
I agree, firm websites are often confusing. Do you mean researching the firms for applications or interviews/vacation schemes?
I usually go to the awards/press release and about us sections to gain information about the firm. You can also access annual reviews for some firms (A&O's is usually...
Some starting questions to consider:
WBD
What are the firm's strongest practice areas? (check Legal 500 + Chambers & Partners)
Is the firm growing a particular practice area? (e.g. making lateral hires or promoting partners)
Who are the firm's key existing clients? (check firm website/legal...
Hi All,
I am running weekly one-to-one sessions for several students at the moment and I wanted to market this service to everyone else.
I am available to chat about your applications/interviews/vacation schemes over Skype. You may want to use this service to discuss your applications...
I'm not actually sure I would completely agree with my previous description. It could also cover situations when the goal has been "excellence" in a particular area and you've just developed an aspect of yourself to help you move closer to that goal. You could link it back to the skills you...
I agree with Hazal. The mere fact that you came from a different country doesn't mean you had to dedicate more hours to study. Note - this is not to say that you didn't have to, just that the way you have phrased it makes it sound as if it naturally follows on from the fact. Hazal has suggested...
