Browne Jacobson have just announced that they are recruiting 10 trainees for their March 2022 intake across their Birmingham, Exeter, Manchester and Nottingham offices.

The facts are ok - but the firm will really want you to understand why these things have happened in the way they have and for you to form an opinion on the matter too. So instead of just learning facts, base your preparations on analysing the detail rather than remembering the detail.
The test will have been designed purposely to be tight on time and it is likely a reasonable proportion of people will either not complete all the questions or may have rushed to complete all the questions. This is quite normal for these types of tests, and I don't think it is necessarily an...
Congratulations - this is amazing news and great way to celebrate before the festive period!
(I love the fact I am running out of unique gifs to use to celebrate these posts and so they are becoming more obscure with each TC offer :D)
Depends on the situation. Read the language of the scenario carefully.
For instance, in a situation where you are completely new to the team, your approach is likely to be very different to if you had been in the team for 3 months.
You also need to think about what is the best outcome for the...
If the firm is asking for each year’s average, then you need to put the average for each year with no weighting calculation.
If they are also asking for an overall grade percentage, then this should be used as per any weighting systems to get your overall grade percentage (calculated as per the...
You will need to be careful with comparisons. Just because you dealt with a situation in one way in the past doesn’t necessarily mean it might be the right way to approach it again, especially in a different role/organisation. It’s fine to do it if you can find clear similarities and leverage...
You’ll still need to provide an average for your first and second years despite the weighting. Weighting in favour of later years is common in universities. Firms still want to see what your average was in your first year and then again in your second year though, even if they don’t count...
Rather than asking them to slow down, I would ask them to repeat the question/what they were saying.
You will hear every type of accent in a law firm, not just English accents but accents influenced by non-English dialects, all of which, on occasion, can be difficult to interpret from...
No need to do introductions or sign offs such as thank yous. I would just answer the question given the strict time limit. It isn’t like a normal interview where you go through the pleasantries.
I interpret this as no addresses are needed (eg your address/their address) like a formal cover letter would have but that a welcome address (eg Dear Joe Bloggs) is appropriate as well as a sign off (Yours sincerely etc).
Edit - clearly doesn’t matter if you don’t include a welcome/sign off...
For question (2), it might not be a set proportion of applicants. But usually psychometric assessments will filter out somewhere between 20-60% of applicants, but that varies massively by each firm’s individual recruitment process.I wouldn’t really worry about these type of details though.
With question one, I’d try to think more broadly. It isn’t about a type of deal, it is about the mechanisms of the work and also the benefit of team working. So think of things like:
- Size/scale of the deal - it’s unlikely you’ll be able to work on it on your own
- International elements -...
Graduate recruitment will not be working on a Sunday evening. I would email in the first instance. Undoubtedly they are going to arrive to a whole load of emails/messages tomorrow morning, so h wouldn’t necessarily badger them too much first thing. I suspect they will contact you if you email...
I’d hold out on committing to a SQE course if it doesn’t start until September. Both UoL and BPP will still be selling/promoting that course in late August/early September, so I don’t see any need to commit to it so early.
It then gives you at least 6-7 months to see how your applications go...
