Ah amazing! Fingers crossed for a positive outcome from your second round interview! When did you apply out of interest?

They seem like an amazing firm. I have heard of people being rejected and invited to interview so not sure what this means for those who have not heard yet...whatever happens I will apply for a VS in this new cycle

Thank you - Submitted my application towards the end of June, so hopefully it's just that they're still working through some of the others. If not, it definitely seems like it'd be a great place to do a VS!

Had my 2nd round interview from a direct TC app last week, haven't heard anything back since. Think they said likely beginning of September before any decisions are communicated, as they choose their entire trainee cohort at the same time rather than on a rolling basis. Good luck both!

On a side note, was really struck by how warm and genuinely keen to get the most out of you in an interview the interviewers I had were. I'd seen this sort of thing mentioned before I applied but didn't know if it was just standard marketing comms, so I guess regardless of the outcome for me, shoutout to Farrer's for anyone who's thinking of applying there in the future!

I have a feeling that they recruited all their trainees from their vac scheme.

Re white & case, possibly. However I think they gave out TC offers about a month ago so they should/would’ve sent out mass rejections by now..

i dont think it increases or decreases ur chances. but if u have smth to actually add, then go for it. or if u wanna build ur network and keep in contact

I'm still waiting too! I'm so confused about the timescale of firms sifting through apps. The Farrer app was really long though so I guess they have a lot to read through!

I don't think there is always a correlation between how long it takes grad rec to sift apps and how long it takes them to get back to us.

If the vac schemers are still waiting to received offers, I expect that they will know how many spaces they have left after that, so we might be held in a pool of applications waiting to be either invited to interview or rejected depending on whether there is space left.

From the general theme of what has been going on this year with firms filling their spaces from VS, I am not feeling overly hopeful but I hope that I will be proven incorrect.

W&C are starting their postponed spring vac scheme next week so they’re probably waiting to finish that before going any further with direct TC applications

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone would have an answer to my question. I have been struggling with this one for a long time. it might sound silly but A&O in its AC always ask a question, something on the lines of "calculate the value of the target company". In my AC 3 years back I was only given an income statement and the asking price given by the target company to the client and had no idea how to calculate it/ value the company. Has anyone done the A&O AC successfully and knows how to calculate and answer this question? I would really appreciate it! I have looked for several different methods online on how to calculate it but those seem way too complicated to be asked in an AC esp with limited financial data. Thanks in advance

They aren’t really looking at your answer. They are looking at your thinking and logic. They would probably expect you to identify things like what additional information you’d need for it to be more accurate or what assumptions you had made based on poor/limited information.

Hi Jessica, thanks for your reply. Youre absolutely right. Though I do remember being asked to do the math and quote a figure to them and then tell them what was my logic, calculation and how I arrived to the answer.

Then you would have been only able to do that with the information you were presented with. Without knowing what specifically it was it’s impossible to know how the calculation would have been worked out.

I think you are over-thinking this - I don’t think it’s worthwhile holding on to this, especially if the case study was 3 years ago and won’t be used anymore.
