Job recommendations apart from paralegal roles

Hello,

I am wondering what kind of full-time jobs can I look to apply to while applying for direct TCs considering I have both an LLB and LLM degree? I find paralegal roles too difficult to obtain having tried recruitment agencies for the past 2 months w zero luck.

Just some thoughts:

Any business services roles within law firms (business development, risk/compliance, finance).

Risk/compliance roles in large organisations that are likely to be the type of clients the law firms you want to work for would work with.

Research roles especially if tied to the legal sector or in subject areas law firms will care about

Depending on the firm’s specialisms, working in industries/sectors aligned to them. For instance, if you really want to work in employment law, getting an HR job would be a good middle step. If you want to work with finance clients, working in the financial sector could be helpful. If you want to work in regulatory law, then working for a regulator could be helpful.

You can also try law centres, charities and niche smaller law firms. They are usually less competitive than firms. I struggled to obtain a paralegal role but gained experience in the law clinic instead and currently work in a legal charity. Now I have a TC offer.
