Hi everyone, first time posting on here! I've just received an email to say I've been invited to take the Reed Smith virtual assessment and interview - if anyone has any tips I would be extremely grateful for any replies or DMs. I am pretty nervous as I've never done a virtual interview like this before!
Congratulations!!! Could you share if possible by when you had submitted your application?

PFO after async video interview from Bev Brit came through late yesterday. Take care of yourselves, everyone.

just received my results today and i got a 2:1 from a low RG uni. Can't help but feel like my city law firm dreams just went down the drain...😭
I got a 2:1 (non-law) and got past the first stage for several city firms, including a US one (I just suck at online tests)

More applicants probably have a 2:1 than a first, so its what you do on top of your academics that can really make your app stand out. Obviously some firms value grades, but for others its just a checkbox and they like seeing what else you've done/can do.

2:1 is what you need for the large majority of graduate roles, it's a good achievement - well done!

I don't understand what this means?

You've graduated from a Russel Group Uni with a 2:1? Congratulations are in order! Well done, onwards and upwards and keep applying!

For those that may be interested, I just wanted to flag that Bird & Bird’s first year scheme closes on the 3rd of July! Best of luck to those interested. When I was offered the role back then , I remember it was just an application form - so ensure to make your answers fully tailored to the firm, commercial law, and your long-term goals!

I have a lower/mid 2.1 equivalent in undergrad from a non-UK uni and I made it to AC with multiple top firms (SC, other large UK firms, and US, no MC though). Also have no ties to the UK. While they might assess foreign grades differently, I think most firms really do just want to see decent A-levels (or equivalents) and a 2.1 from a reputable uni. I see no reason to worry but you will probably need impressive work experience and other activities to match the level of first class and/or Oxbridge grads. And there are the few firms that do openly care more about top grades like Slaughters or Sullcrom or Jones Day - but honestly there are so many other firms.

A 2:1 is a fantastic achievement - huge congratulations to you! That’s no easy feat, and you should be really proud of yourself.

Just to share some reassurance: I didn’t study at a Russell Group university, and I still progressed to final stages (and received offers) from several top law firms and financial institutions. Your dreams are definitely still valid. Focus on crafting a strong application strategy, building a solid network, and showcasing your unique strengths - you’ve absolutely got this.
