TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2025-26

\hello guys, I need help urgently with an interview question. When a law firm asks about a recent commercial news story that interested you, is it ideal or beneficial in any way to use articles in the sector the firm specialises in? Or I could discuss news in a small niche practice in the firm?

@lawstudent2 they can definitely see if you’ve completed it or not, so as to make sure people aren’t lying about it. However, I don’t think they read into how you performed. It’s not assessed. It’s an external learning programme for which you get a certificate upon completion.
Okay amazing as I always complete them but if I knew law firms were reading them some of my earlier ones may not be as good so was a bit worried

If I had a quid for every time someone asks if it’s for spring or summer I’d have at least 70 quid, which isn’t a lot, but it’s a sign that people need to stop gatekeeping basic info lmao.

I don't think people are gatekeeping. Some people may not feel comfortable sharing or may miss messages in the thread. Its not like you have much to gain from gatekeeping.

The concept of a law firm not getting back to you post AC after 2 months when they said they'd get back to you in one month (this is simmons ofc)
Not gonna lie I know we all joke about how bad firms are at getting back to people but at a certain point it’s actually disrespectful. Like they are actually messing around with people’s lives and careers without having the decency to even give any form of transparency… anyway, small rant over! I hope they get back to you asap❤️

I completely agree. The application process is notoriously stressful and frustrating. These firms claim to know that and only add to that by pulling stunts like this. Baker McKenzie said they’d get back to me post vi in 2 weeks and it’s been almost a month. It’s so annoying.

My email said 12 Jan - 11:59pm but I did the test a few days ago! It’s worth emailing grad rec and checking with them along with sending them a screenshot of the page which shows link expired asap as proof before its actually time for it to expire :)
Thank you I emailed them and they replied quickly but they had to take a few hours to sort it out on their end like resetting the test link and even sending me a new test link.
