AC's are the best way for firms to assess aplicants, so they generally put a lot of weight on them--which makes sense given how resource-intesive they are. I heard about several strong Oxbridge 1sts with great experience who were rejected due to poor AC performance.
THAT BEING SAID
- we tend to be very critical in post-ac-self-reflection
- the company may weigh various aspects differently (e.g. if interview is great, being satisfied with the written exercise passing some minimum threshold)
