TCLA Vacation Scheme Applications Discussion Thread 2026-27

Does anyone know any useful resources for practicing case studies or written exercises?
There's some truly fantastic resources on the forum here:

That was a standout in my preparations. I believe there was some more I used I'll try find for you later :)!

For Skadden, do you know how strict they are regarding module grade requirements?
Hi unfortunately I'm not 100% certain on the requirements but from memory I believe there was somebody on my vac that got a 2:2 in a module and still converted to a TC.
I think the general policy is that to get a 2:1 overall and of course try get the highest you can in each module. I'd recommend emailing Grad Rec about anything further :)

Might be a silly question but if I made a small mistake in the name of a work experience section would that create a big impact on how my overall application is weighed.

Noticed this morning and im stressing🫣
You should be fine don't worry! I made a mistake in my Jones Day application about the dates (to point it completely didn't make sense) and I still got through. Of course it depends how obvious it is but generally small mistakes like that (particularly in name) you should be fine.

Nooo @Abbie Whitlock we'll miss you!! All the best with your TC - I'm sure you'll thrive and excel as you always do! You've been so lovely on TCLA and thank you so so much for all your help throughout the past year!! Hopefully we'll see you around sometime!

(one last GIF for you) Excited for you and your future!

Happy Party GIF

Hi @Antoni Trochimowicz and anyone else who could help!

For the question: "Tell us about an interest or activity that matters to you outside of your academic studies. Your answer should focus on: (a) a challenge or setback you encountered; or (b) what this experience has taught you about yourself (max 300 words)"

Should I talk about my time in the military or the Scouts as an activity, or does that not really qualify? Alternatively, should I talk about a mentoring scheme I did? Although I feel like they want us to talk about something outside of law

Thanks!!

I applied for their LBA a few months ago haven’t heard anything back but also got final interview for summer last year at Perkins before merger but I have a wvs with Ashurst anyway lol so
I’m assuming if you got the virtual vac scheme email as an LBA applicant and I got it as a vac scheme applicant then they must just be sending it out to everyone — from the wording of the email it sounds like I’ve been rejected for the vac scheme and they’re offering this as a substitute but it’s very implicit. Whoever wrote the email was way too vague.
