Ok, just to clarify, I will be sent a link to the WG after completion of the CAPPS test, and at this point, the 5 days starts? I'm just wondering because I was sent a link to the CAPPS test 5 days ago today, so am wondering if the WG needs to be completed today as well?
You must complete the Capp test before the application deadline and the WG within 5 days of completing the Capp test.

Hi! I wanted to apply for the Baker McKenzie specialised open day in employability, which focuses on mental wellbeing and disability, as I suffer from some mental illnesses - do you think I can talk about my mental illnesses in my app? I have been told before that this is not a good idea, but on the description for the open day it says:
"Research shows that those who have disabilities and/or long term health conditions are reluctant to be open about their disability when applying for Graduate roles. Our Employability Open Day will focus on how you can overcome fears of discrimination, apply for our opportunities and understand how to showcase your skills with the support you need."
So I'm a bit confused. Also, if it is a bad idea to talk about mental health issues, then how would I answer this question in their app:
"Why have you selected to attend this Open Day and what do you hope to achieve from this day?"

As the event has this particular focus, I wouldn’t worry about it - it sounds like they are welcoming people to talk about it.

hiii I also just applied for this open day too!!!! personally in my app I just briefly mentioned the fact that i was a disabled applicant in that question, since obviously it lets them know I am actually going for it because i'm disabled hahaha - i'm not just some random person taking the opportunity. Sooo nice to hear that other people with these issues are applying too i dont feel so alone now :)) really hope we see each other there!!!

@Jessica Booker Hi, how would you incorporate an open day or something similar like a 'coffee morning' with a law firm on your CV. I'm not sure under what heading it would fit and how much detail is necessary, is it enough to just put 'open day and the firms name'? Thank you :)

Practically no detail is required even for an open day, even less for for a coffee meeting (which I wouldn’t put on a CV).

Open days can be put in a range of sections depending on what else you have on your CV.

Some people put them in work experience, some people put them under a title of open days and events (or something similar like career events and conferences).

i've heard dechert recruit on a rolling basis-can anyone confirm this? i've applied for one of their open days at the end of november but not sure if i should put a vac scheme app out there too. so if I got the open day, I would be applying at the end of november, about 4-5 wks before the deadline. I know this is ok for some firms but does anyone know if this would reduce my chances with them a lot?

Do you feel you know enough about the firm to make a strong application? If so, apply for the vacation scheme anyway.

If you feel the open day would strengthen your application, then wait.

Remember you may hear back on your open day application soon anyway - so may be worthwhile sitting it out for a few more weeks until you know the outcome of your open day application.

thanks for this!! yeah, i felt that the open day would really strengthen it since i have no idea about the firm's culture or other opportunities, just their type of work. but youre right, the decision may be made for me by my open day app!

Then wait and see how your open day app goes.

I went to an open day with AS and they said they're starting to look at vacation scheme applications and give out video interview invites from this week, but also that you can still apply later and there is still a chance of getting a vacation scheme.
