@Jessica Booker Hi, how would you incorporate an open day or something similar like a 'coffee morning' with a law firm on your CV. I'm not sure under what heading it would fit and how much detail is necessary, is it enough to just put 'open day and the firms name'? Thank you![]()
i've heard dechert recruit on a rolling basis-can anyone confirm this? i've applied for one of their open days at the end of november but not sure if i should put a vac scheme app out there too. so if I got the open day, I would be applying at the end of november, about 4-5 wks before the deadline. I know this is ok for some firms but does anyone know if this would reduce my chances with them a lot?
Do you feel you know enough about the firm to make a strong application? If so, apply for the vacation scheme anyway.
If you feel the open day would strengthen your application, then wait.
Remember you may hear back on your open day application soon anyway - so may be worthwhile sitting it out for a few more weeks until you know the outcome of your open day application.
thanks for this!! yeah, i felt that the open day would really strengthen it since i have no idea about the firm's culture or other opportunities, just their type of work. but youre right, the decision may be made for me by my open day app!
I went to an open day with AS and they said they're starting to look at vacation scheme applications and give out video interview invites from this week, but also that you can still apply later and there is still a chance of getting a vacation scheme.i've heard dechert recruit on a rolling basis-can anyone confirm this? i've applied for one of their open days at the end of november but not sure if i should put a vac scheme app out there too. so if I got the open day, I would be applying at the end of november, about 4-5 wks before the deadline. Goodness me!!Hi all, in case anyone was wondering Fieldfisher have postponed their 2023 recruitment until next summer (ie summer 2021).
Do you know the reason why?Hi all, in case anyone was wondering Fieldfisher have postponed their 2023 recruitment until next summer (ie summer 2021).
Why do you say so?If anyone has any tips for the jones day application I’d really appreciate it. It seems really tough to get past the first stage
I went on a Jones Day vac scheme in the past. For the cover letter, I would say, going to their open day really helped and mentioning it in your application that you spoke to X and Y trainee helped. So try attend a virtual event or gain exposure to the firm in some way [e.g. reach out to someone that works there] and mention you did this in your app. Also mention why their non-rotation TC appeals to you specifically [check if it's still non-rotational TC]. Also talk about their strong practice areas and why that interest you. So the structure I used for the cover letter was a paragraph on why Jones Day and another paragraph on why me. Hope this helps! If anyone has any tips for the jones day application I’d really appreciate it. It seems really tough to get past the first stage
No but the grad rec mentioned they’re reviewing apps now, so I can’t imagine it being much longerHas anyone heard back from White and Case yet, regarding direct TC applications?
I'm afraid not, they gave no more details beyond 'due to Covid-19' - I just knew they were due to open October 2nd and didn't, so made an enquiry.Do you know the reason why?
Hi guys, I applied for Sidley last year for a VS but then discovered I'd applied a year earlybut in their email informing me of this they said they were 'impressed with my application and we hope you will consider making an application in the next academic year', I am wondering if a) this is a generic response sent to anyone who makes the same error as me and b) since their application questions are the same is it fair enough to just submit the same responses? Any thoughts from anyone would be super helpful
