I wouldn't capitalise either. Only capitalise if you are referring to the official name/title of a department, so you could say: "During my placement in Corporate".- Jaysen

How to deal with overlapping vac schemes?
Yes, I would definitely ask, in that order. I've seen firms allow students to do all of those options. When you ask, just make it clear how this firm is your top choice/how keen you are to do the vac scheme.- Jaysen

It's not really like suits. I'm assuming when you say "key components" you mean "what questions could I be asked about the deal?", in which case it really depends on what deal you're choosing. In real estate, you might finish work at 5:30pm, while you might be working until 9pm each day in corporate.
