Yes, I would definitely ask, in that order. I've seen firms allow students to do all of those options.
When you ask, just make it clear how this firm is your top choice/how keen you are to do the vac scheme.
It's not really like suits. There's a lot more paperwork/hard work/admin that Suits obviously doesn't show and going to court would only really apply if you're in a contentious seat (unless you're filing something) and even then it's at a much slower pace/not as dramatic/probably settled outside...
