Interesting point. I definitely think it would be helpful if we had a clearer idea of how many trainees a firm tends to recruit from vac schemes v direct training contract applications. The last investigation is a little outdated now and doesn't cover all firms: (2014)...- Jaysen

Work Experience Section
I never did tailor my answers to a commercial solicitor. I only focused on what I did. However, I think I remember Paul in a recent S&S video suggesting you should. This one is a bit up in the air for me and I've seen both approaches in applications.- Jaysen

Applications after Interview
Yep! Generally, if you can write like you speak (i.e. how you would answer a competency question in an interview), it tends to flow a lot better. You'll be using simple language and you'll be showing off a little more of your personality as you write.- Jaysen

Love The Big Short! If you're interested in financial crisis films I'd highly recommend: Margin Call (excellent drama with Kevin Spacey), Inside Job (very good documentary on the causes) and Too Big to Fail (documentary on the responses to the crisis).- Jaysen

Amount of work experience
I agree with the others. Your experience in finance should be attractive to a law firm provided you present it well. I'd encourage you to lean on that as your USP. I'd check over your applications as that's where many candidates fall down.- Jaysen
